Two held in P’kula double murder case
Panchkula, December 4
The accused identified as Jaibir (21) and his accomplice, Ashok have confessed to have committed the crime, said sources. While the motive behind the crime was yet to be ascertained, it was reported that the two were enraged as Purmila had publicly insulted them. In a fit of rage they allegedly strangulated her when she was sitting in her flat and they also killed her driver so that he would not raise an alarm. Purmila, who was director at the Institute of Science and Technology, Kalawad in Yamuna Nagar district, reached at her flat in the Group Housing Society No 9 on Sunday morning in her car. There she entered into an argument with a “To Let” service provider Jaibir and slapped Rambir, the care taker of the flat. Since then, she and the driver of her car identified as Gurvinder, had been found missing. Though the car of the deceased was found by the police on Tuesday at Morni, their mutilated bodies were recovered near the railway tracks from the Chandimandir area few days ago.
Jaibir of Kavi village in Panipat used to provide his services to Purmila for renting out her flat. She had already directed him not to rent it out to lawyers and policemen. Still Jaibir rented out the house to a lawyer a few months ago due to which she was annoyed with him. The lawyer vacated the house last month and Purmila was here to rent it out again and on Sunday when Jaibir along with Ashok and Rambir met her she scolded them publicly for not obeying her directions. Jaibir, however, blamed Rambir for it and in a fit of anger she slapped Rambir who left the place after that. Later, when Purmila was alone at her flat, Jaibir and Ashok strangulated, said the sources. After this they called the driver in the flat and strangulated him as well.
Rehri-rickshaw used for dumping bodies
A rehri-rickshaw found abandoned near the bodies led to the arrests of the accused. The rehri owner was identified as Rajpal, a sweeper at the Group Housing Society No 9. Rajpal told the police that after finishing the job he used to park the rehri with Munni Lal who ironed the clothes of society residents. Munni Lal revealed that Jaibir took away the rehri on Sunday. Jaibir in his confession told the police that he along with Ashok took the bodies on rehri and dumped them near the railway track behind the society, said sources.
Accused suggested Purmila to sell off flat
The reports allegedly suggested that Jaibir who also dealt in real estate business had advised Purmila to sell off her flat. However, the deceased had refused to do so. It is also suspected that the accused killed the woman to usurp her property as she was unmarried.
P’kula cops fail
The delay of one week in detection of the crime is in fact an egg on the face of the Panchkula police. After the college authorities informed the police regarding their missing employees from the society, the police personnel visited the flat and checked for the clue. They however, failed to find blood spots on the floor which was cleverly hidden under the bundle of clothes by the accused. x |
