Ek naya MOD
Nagesh Kukunoor, Ayesha Takia and Ranvijay, in Chandigarh for the promotion of their upcoming film Mod, share how anyone who has fallen in love will connect with the movie
Mona

When love happens, life takes a new turn. Time stops, priorities change and its there for everyone to see. Now love can be for your partner, sibling or parents and what we saw was a lovelorn cast on Saturday. Nagesh Kukunoor, Ayesha Takia and Ranvijay, hopelessly in love with their upcoming film Mod, made a stop at Black Magic, DLF Mall, Chandigarh, as part of their promotional road trip.

The trio makes for a delightful company, the leading lady in black smiling from ear-to-ear as the famed anchor takes the mike to introduce the film. Coming from Nagesh Kukunoor’s stable, the writer- producer of Dor and Iqbal, Mod is a suspense love story set in a small town, Ganga. “Urban India has lost its visual appeal so I move to my utopic town Ganga, exploring a love story,” says Nagesh.

Not too keen to make a love story, a flash of a moment while watching Taiwanese film ‘Keeping Watch’ as a jury member led Nagesh to this love journey that he has written and directed. “I never came across such a story till Mod happened,” says Nagesh who is ready to explore another genre once Mod hits the screens on October 14.

This leading, experimental director left his career in USA to turn to films and stands by his tribe whether they worked at the box-office or not. “I ensure that I give my best in whatever I am making. Audience’s reaction is not predictable, what I make comes from the feeling that this story needs to be told,” says Nagesh in all earnestness.

In the lead

The little Complan girl who made a stunning appearance in Meri Chunarii Udd Udd Jaye and in Shake It Daddy during her teens is all grown up and glowing post marriage. Mod’s Aranya, Ayesha Takia says life has been the same since marriage and her co-star Ranvijay attributes it to the ‘cool dude’ that she is married to. The leading pair has a feeling that Mod would be able to do a Dor. The romantic thriller presents Ranvijay in a different image than the Roadies. “I do have a loving, sensitive side that so far has been known only to my family and a few girlfriends I have,” says this Roadie, who’s proud to have done a Nagesh film. “When Nagesh sir called for the role it was a straight ‘yes’ from me but I had to undergo a rigorous audition, way tougher than the Roadies,” says Ranvijay, who has made a splash in films in Hindi as well as Punjabi. Post Mod release, he is off to Amritsar shooting for his next Punjabi flick.

Back to the leading lady, Ayesha not only learnt how to repair watches (she plays an independent girl who owns a watch repair shop) but also rode a Luna she was terrible at. “I would be dead if someone tells me off,” says the pretty lass who puts in efforts not only in enacting the role but also choosing it. “I don’t want to do a role that I am not too proud of ten years on,” says Ayesha.

Nothing to lose!
Ajay Khullar, in Chandigarh, talks about his debut novel, The Nothing Man
Manpriya Khurana

It’s impossible not to draw parallels between the author and the protagonist. The protagonist is a writer who leaves a book incomplete; the author churns out a book from a once unfinished film script. Sounds complicated?

“It wasn’t easy writing this book. First of all the plot was complicated, secondly it was non-linear and thirdly I was dealing with a subject of salvation. An anti-hero tries to find salvation,” Ajay Khullar, is talking of his debut novel, The Nothing Man. It is the story of Baru, the anti-hero, the protagonist, a man who wants to become something.

Ajay quotes the Greek character Sisyphus, “He had been condemned to ceaselessly roll a rock to the top of a mountain, from where it would fall back due to its own weight.” Meanwhile, the protagonist leaves a book incomplete, divorces his wife, becomes an activist, manipulates his way back into his wife’s life. “At one point of time, in the narrative he’s into random causes. He needs something to keep him going, to give him meaning to his life.” His job was never to be an activist, he was born to be a writer.

In between the conversations, he cuts you down and says, “It’s not autobiographical. It’s been written in first person though.” The book took him five years, while its genesis happened as back as twelve years ago. He laughs, “I started with a film script, which I didn’t finish. The character in the story didn’t finish the book. In a way, I achieve my salvation through this book.” His message is loud and clear, “One must find the higher meaning of life, do we ever question our existence, our purpose of life, where are we headed?” And he points to the larger picture.

Speaking of which, the future that is; he’s now out to scare souls, all the while carefully trying to avoid run-of-the-mill genre and ideas. “The genre would be horror, it’s a creature feature but not in the sense of a Jurassic Park. Horror is one genre that I feel has not been tapped well, especially by Indian authors in English.” No wonder, he carefully avoids the controversial comments on the current breed of authors. “They follow a set trend, while I don’t,” adds the travel writer who did his schooling and graduation from Chandigarh. That’s not it, he has been dabbling in various fields. A travel writer, a former television, web and print journalist, a PR professional, film marketing executive, communications lecturer, an adventure sports instructor….he laughs, “Well, I am a Nothing Man.” Finally we found a parallel somewhere!

Screen Show

Seems like books and big screens have a close connect. Another one headed the same route perhaps? Shares Ajay, “I am already in talks with a critically acclaimed Bollywood director. I can’t name him as yet but he’s approached me and soon this might be translated onto the big screen.”

Net Diwali gifts!
We take a look at how you can make Diwali more interesting by going online this year
Vasudha Gupta

Gone are the days when the festive season meant running around and dropping brown paper packages tied up with strings to various corners of the city. If you are among the techno-friendly population of Chandigarh, get hold of your Macbook and make life easier, with an emoticon. Most of the big players of the web world have rolled up their sleeves and are ready to send anything you desire to any corner of the world!

One search on Google and the options roll out in 0.50 seconds. From flowers, cakes, Diwali thali, trays, diyas, crystals, it’s almost like you name a gift and it is sent. We got in touch with the leaders in the world of online trading giants to give you a round up on how you can save energy for the true Diwali spirit. “We are gifting firecrackers through our website,” Thomas Mathews, Manager, Marketing and Alliances Diwalistore.com informs us. Providing services to USA, UK, Canada and the rest of the world, you can be sure that through them even the long lost extended family is not forgotten.

Apart from discounts for repeat customers, the website also offers additional discounts on the various products. With terrific responses pouring in, Thomas is positive that the sales will not dwindle much post the festive season. “Our sweets are famous regional delicacies,” he adds. Apart from the over-the-top exchange of presents, there is the trend of cleaning up, which seeps into the festive season.

Keeping this in mind, Olx.in, one of the leading online markets has created a space to ensure that you can buy and sell all that you wish through this portal. “In line with the festival season, we have initiated the idea to sell cakes, candles, sweets and other home-made delicacies,” says Amarjit Batra, Country manager, Olx.in. So many of us try and make the perfect cheese cakes and rich Belgian chocolates at home, “We basically are an online market for the upcoming festival-based entrepreneurs, who emerge in this season,” smiles Batra. Ready to launch applications for the gadget-freaks, you will soon be able to check out special home-made gajrelas and rasmalis for sale through their website. The offer just gets better post the Diwali season!

“There are several instances where the gifts are not according to your taste,” he says. Why waste? Use the website to sell all the crystals and bowls before they catch dust in your cupboard. “Most of such gifts are expensive and brand new, so the wastage just gets reduced further,” Batra adds. If it’s only on the Diwali day that you suddenly recall about an aunt who missed out from you gift list, don’t worry, Fern n’ Petals comes to the rescue. Pawan Gadia, Head of e-commerce of Ferns N’ Petals, says, “We have an option of delivering anything and everything you desire on Diwali,” he says. Also introducing for the first time is the option of delivering sugar-free sweets and chocolates for the health conscious. “It has seen a good response till now, rest, we’ll only find out around Diwali, which is when the sales reach the sky,” he says.

For Manan Sharma, Managing Director of the Indiangiftsportal.com, it is already time to restock. “It is for the first time ever that we are already running out of stocks,” he says. Doing some great NRI business, he is witnessing the trend of gifting home appliances. “People are off candles now, but diyas are doing brisk business in the gifting circles,” he says. Also an emerging concept is corporate gifting. “Lot of people do not have time to spend days in distributing gifts. We just lighten their load,” he says. Providing worldwide services, you can surly trust them ordering mithais online.

If it’s the festive fever that has gripped you, don’t worry, just go online!

In fool’s paradise
Men fool themselves into thinking they’re two inches slimmer

Men are men. They fool themselves into thinking they are two inches slimmer than they actually are, a survey has revealed. The average man was 35.8 inches, 2.1 inches slimmer than the English average of 37.9 inches and 2.2 inches smaller than the Scottish average of 38 inches, according to the poll which questioned 1,000 British men to guess their waist size.

Researchers found 87 per cent of men did not know how to measure their waists. Around half wrongly said it was measuring just above their hips, while just 13 per cent knew the correct method, which involves measuring at the midpoint between their ribs and the top of the hips.

The British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK and Diabetes UK commissioned the YouGov poll to raise awareness of the dangers of a large waist size.

Abdominal fat releases toxic, inflammatory chemicals and is partly responsible for the development of heart disease and diabetes. Research suggests waist size in men and women is an accurate predictor of future disease risk than body weight.

The survey found only 16 per cent of men admitted to a waist size of 40 inches or above, but official figures show around twice as many are in this category.

The researchers found barely one in 10 men admitted to a waist size of 38 inches to 39 inches, while 37 per cent estimated they had a trim waistline of between 34 inches and 37 inches.

Tracy Parker of the British Heart Foundation said: “The results suggest men might not know they are in the danger zone. If your waist strays above 37 inches, arrange some healthy activities around your day for minimum fuss.” Added Deepa Khatri from Diabetes UK: “Knowing you are at risk is the first step to taking action and making small lifestyle changes can sometimes be all it takes.” — PTI

Natural instinct
Dritikon, an exhibition of photography by Ranjodh Singh and TPS Sandhu, captures nature at its best
Vasudha Gupta

It's not always easy to find photographers who can make their pictures speak those proverbial 'thousand words'. TPS Sandhu and Ranjodh Singh are among those rare ones, if their photo exhibition, Drititkon, is anything to by.

Talking about the message behind the exhibition, Ranjodh says, "Dritikon is basically how we have seen nature." Visible in their collection are the positives and negatives that exist in nature. "I have always believed that through nature, a person can see God," Singh says. Currently heading the Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi, he is keen on bringing the youth of Punjab closer to art. Based in Ludhiana, he belongs to the category of self-taught artists of the region.

Several of his works are over 10-15 years old and taken from his film camera. "I started working when digital cameras were not in the scene. I struggled hard to find good compositions and some came out phenomenally well," he says. Not many of us would think about viewing the Taj from the other side of Yamuna. "I had gone with a friend and it was closed, so we took a boat to the other side and captured it's reflection in the water," he says. Aptly captioned, Reflections of Love, it showed the true beauty of Taj. Another masterpiece by Singh is Memories of Midnight. "This was during the lunar eclipse with a 500 mm lens. Thanks to the electricity board, there was complete darkness and the details of the moon came out unbelievably real," he adds. Speaking 1000 words on their own, this is a rare treat of sorts.

TPS Sandhu, an avid photographer, talks about his works, "I am showcasing 15-years of my work in photography." There has been lot of buzz about his series Fragrant Flames. One look at it justifies the title. Mostly perceived as dancing dolls or flames captured, it is nothing but a shoot of gladiola shot beautifully. " My subjects are simple but I enjoy the use of technique in my work," he explains. Water is also an important element for Sandhu. Struggle for Peace and Golden Melody captures the two facets of water. "I have just used a different technique in Struggle for Peace and taken a pan shot. While Golden Moments is the reflection of the Golden Temple in water. It's calm," he says. Another outstanding shot is Noor. Grey in colour, it confuses the viewer, who can never guess that it's a glacier. "It has the sun, small clouds and the shining glacier," he adds.

Art Karat pays tribute to Indian beauty with its jewellery exhibition, Aishwarya Collection, at Hotel Taj-Chandigarh
Sabia Talwar

Since times immemorial, jewellery has afforded women that complete; sensuous yet traditional look.

To celebrate that very look and to pay a tribute to the great Indian beauty, Art Karat comes up with its Aishwarya collection at a jewellery exhibition-cum-sale at the Capitol hall, Hotel Taj, Chandigarh.

The people behind these fabulous creations are Asha Kamal Modi and Saket Modi, who have been very much inspired from the jewellery worn by Aishwarya Rai in many of her movies.

The entire jewellery ensemble is in pure silver that has 22 karat gold plating with different precious as well as semi-precious gemstones and a perfect blend of intricate meenakri work. The jewellery pieces include kangans, bangles, bracelets, bajubandh, earrings, rings, heavy sets, including neck pieces and danglers and hathphools (delicate bracelet attached with four rings), and that too at a very reasonable cost starting from Rs 2,000 up to Rs 1,00,000.

The exhibition offers a different concept of temple jewellery, which has Godly figures on the pendants with gold patta. Jewellery connoisseurs can also witness the classic and trendy designs that have been seen in blockbusters movies like Umrao Jaan, Devdas, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Jodha Akbar. Fair for all fares!
Vanity Fair at the Whispering Willows, Zirakpur, is back and this time it is brighter and more colourful
Vasudha Gupta

It's a one-stop shopping destination! And it's a customized perfect fit for everyone. It is definitely not bigger, but definitely better this time! The butterflies at the entrance give a warm and refreshing welcome at the Vanity Fair, which opened its flower-laden doors for the up-market crowd of Chandigarh on Saturday. With too much bling happening, it's also too much happening at one go, but then it's always been such and has only gone brighter as well as colourful!

"The concept of the fair basically came out from my thought to create a day's getaway," shares Priya Jagat, the founder-organizer of the fair. Looking after the interests of the high-heeled, air-kissing women from the past six years, the focus has today shifted to home décor. "Vanity Fair is basically about creating a platform for those who haven't been able to showcase their work," she says. Now, only grown better, she has given a chance to a large number of NGOs and set ups.

Creative bent

The fair is one of those few places where creativity is at its height, along with some killer fashion sense among the women running the show. One such stall, which stands out is Create a flutter. Bhavneet Rehal and Suneet Sidhu's brainchild, they have brought the concept of customised paper art to the city. Located in the Willow Bazaar, it offers innovative concepts in birthday invites and frames your scrap book idea.

Children's corner

Apart from a dedicated corner for the little ones by the Jelly Bean Junction, Sheena Jain took centrestage in offering a great concept for childrens' rooms and clothes. Sourcing her material and fabrics from her trips all over, she is particular about keeping a tab on her prices. "I hardly repeat a concept," she says through her pick and white stall lined with lampshades, cushions, and dresses.

Home Décor

The focus is now shifting to home décor and if you plan to visit the Vanity Fair, just empty out your house as there is just too much to pick and choose from. Bed linen by Utkrishit looks smooth in the florals and pinks. Soothing with laces and ribbons, it is sure to give a different dimension to the room. Not only pink and black, the fair also boasts of bringing genuine antiques. India House, which is running chain stores internationally, brings forth great antiques, including a decorative clock and handmade carpets.

Meadow Brook

With open spaces running out today, a garden has truly become enchanted. Ensuring that it looks pretty during the day and night, several stalls talk about interesting items for your patch of green. Bringing the thought of 'love an animal and gift a plant' is Earthly Creations by Harpreet Ahluwalia; she gathers her dogs, rabbits and bears all made in terracotta to bring life to your garden. Also, done up in marble, several potted plants and bird-bathers have been put together by Gurdeep Kaur Saini's stall Images.

Clothing and accessories

Focusing on embroideries is Sarita Shokeen under her name Navya. Also into customization, she is currently focusing on the festive wear and dense threadwork suits. Running a workshop in Kutch, is Dhiren Thacker, who has brought Katch, Pakho and Jath work from Gujarat to add the regional flavour to your wardrobe.

If nothing suits your fancy in the list of bling and bags, just sit by the pool, put on your shades, and sip into the beer and wine to just gaze at the frenzy the fair creates year after year, flawlessly.

Pulled together by common spiritual thoughts, Rubel Pasricha, Rosy Grover and Neena Seghal have put up an exhibition of their works at the Government Museum and Art Gallery-10.

Rubel Paricha, the young blood among the three, has enjoyed painting since her childhood days. Inclined towards Buddha, several of her works are based on his teachings. The Lotus Sutra, made with Buddha in the background and a lotus in the front has a story of its own. "The Lotus Sutra is basically the theory of creating karma in this life and paying for the last life's karma," she says. Not following any said rules of painting, she stands with the view that paintings don't have a structure.

Neena Seghal’s paintings revolve around the life in a village. "I have always loved bright colours and want to enjoy life. This shows in my work," she smiles. Using all possible shades of orange and red to depict village life, Balanced Wisdom shows a village woman balancing all of her life, kids, kitchen, garden, home, et all. The Dreams shows two women in front of a diya.

Rosy Grover always loved painting and reinvented her love for painting after 15 years. "In some paintings, the concepts emerge out of the painting and sometimes after it. I do have thoughts when I start working," she says. Her Sharing the Odds focuses on women leaving aside a day's work to relax, talk and dance. Navratan is a collection of different textures in paintings. Mirrors have been aptly used for highlighting. "This painting," she says, pointing towards a carriage moving on a street, it's the reflection after the rainy season."

Madonna bared

A series of photographs showing Madonna topless have been leaked online.

The images, taken during a shoot for W magazine three years ago, show the then-50-year-old Material Girl with no make-up, in a blonde wig, black knickers and a transparent, skin-coloured bra as she sits on a couch.

Another photograph shows her topless reflection in a mirror as she changes into a strappy black dress. The photographs leaked Thursday were snapped as Madonna prepared for a photoshoot with her then-lover, model Jesus Luz, in a hotel room in Brazil. —IANS

Jannat 2 takes off

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s Jannat 2 starring Emraan Hashmi and model Esha Gupta made a kick start Friday morning in the Capital. “News: Shooting of Jannat 2 begins today (Friday) in the capital. First shot taken at 8:45 am. Kunal Deshmukh has resolved to deliver a blockbuster,” Bhatt posted on his Twitter account. The film, directed by Deshmukh, is a sequel to the 2008 film Jannat. —IANS

Twitter tale

Actor Shahid Kapoor found himself in the midst of a controversy when his Twitter account suddenly stopped following Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on the micro-blogging site. “What’s up people ... Read the weirdest story that I had stopped following SRK ... Only to realise that I actually had ... No clue how,” Shahid posted on his account. “Well he’s back on my follow list ... Was just some random thing people going loony over it !!! Haha,” he further posted. It might be a click of a button but it seems it has become a big statement in split seconds.

Wolve of a time

Actor Hugh Jackman believes the new Wolverine movie will be a simpler story than 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine and a great tribute to the character. “I think we’ve got the chance to nail the character this time, to do the hole-in-one. We haven’t managed that yet. On the last movie, we complicated it with too many other characters. And there’ll be more women this time which is good. The last one was so masculine,” he said. “The new film will go more into the character. I don’t think we’ve ever seen his rage expressed properly,” he said. —IANS

People’s girl

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, known for her simple yet stylish wardrobe, has been given the title of India’s Best Dressed by People magazine.

Annually, the magazine honours style icons with the Best Dressed edition. This year, Priyanka has featured on the cover of its India edition. About being chosen as the face of People’s special issue of India’s Best Dressed for 2011, Priyanka said: “I’m excited because I never thought I would get this title.”

Talking of the one style accessory she has at all times, she said: “I wear confidence.” The former Miss World will walk the ramp for Manish Malhotra at the Mercedes-Benz Best Dressed Show 2011 in Mumbai Saturday evening, in a celebration of the special issue of the magazine.

“The Best Dressed show marks the coming together of the entertainment industry’s most stylish people on one platform. My collection for the evening is my signature style of opulent glamorous Indian wear,” Malhotra said in a statement. —IANS

Bollywood says iBye

Apple co-founder Steve Jobs passed away on Wednesday at the age of 56. He was suffering from pancreatic cancer. His death has come as a shock to whole world as he revolutionised the way we think about technology.

Here's what Bollywood had to say about his demise.

Technology has lost their greatest champion yet. You were way apart from an ordinary man. You attached the whole world with your inventions. May your soul rest in peace. — Shah Rukh Khan

No one comes close to your brilliance and creativity. You were super and no one can touch your brilliancy anymore. — Sonam Kapoor

Thank you Steve Jobs for making our lives so much easier. Your vision and aesthetics will live on forever. RIP. — Farhan Akhtar

The only thing I insisted on buying knowing I didn't 'need it' was a MacBook. They don't make the MacBook anymore. Now they will never have another Steve Jobs. — Shahana Goswami

RIP Steve Jobs. The Man, the visionary, the creator and the genius that gave the world the Apple technology. May God be with your family, for my family and I have enjoyed your work for many years now. You opened so many doors and gave the world so much with your expertise. Thank you, Steve. — Akshay Kumar

Steve Job made a person like me too, feel a complete tech savvy. That was the ease of his brilliant mind. Will miss his persona. RIP. — Anupam Kher

There is a lesson in the grace with which Steve Jobs prepared for today. Death comes to everyone, but it is how we meet it that defines us. — Vishal Dadlani

Mirror, mirror on the wall

Dangerous Liaisons star Michelle Pfeiffer says she is all for plastic surgery and would consider having a procedure if she needed it.

The stunning 53-year-old actress says she would go under the knife if she needed it and blasted people who go too far.

"I'm all for a little something here and there - fine. It doesn't matter to me if people have plastic surgery or they don't, or if they do botox. But when people don't look like themselves anymore, that's when you kind of go, 'Oooh,' and it's kind of sad. It's uncomfortable for us, but if they're happy with what they see in the mirror, does it matter?" she said.

However, Pfeiffer's opinion is in direct contrast to a number of Hollywood stars who have recently blasted the entertainment industry's obsession with youth.

"I do worry about the expectation to look a certain way.

I find LA quite scary because of that - all those young people having plastic surgery. But the thing is, I don't want to look like everyone else," Emma Watson had said.

"The only thing I don't like on young people is plastic surgery. The purity of youthful beauty is so fantastic to me that it's horrific when young girls get fake things," Helen Mirren said. —PTI

DK Bose composer to Rock the Shaadi

Ram Sampath, who made it big with the DK Bose and Switty Switty tracks from the recent hit Delhi Belly, has been snapped up for Balaji and iRock's co-production, Rock The Shaadi.

Sampath, who has been offered to score for a host of films since Delhi Belly, is said to have taken up Rock The Shaadi, as he loved the funky plot of the film and wanted to work with the banners associated with the film.

The film's music is said to be an assortment of club-friendly, funky and folk, for which Ekta Kapoor and director Navdeep Singh thought Sampath would be the apt choice.

The mad rom-com with a twist stars Abhay Deol and Genelia D'Souza, together for the first time. It will release in summer 2012.

Time to play Ra.One, the game

Shah Rukh Khan, who is busy promoting Ra.One has a new plan to promote the film. The actor has collaborated with Sony PlayStation for a video game based on the movie.

Gaming on

Kids love video games and playgrounds have been replaced by video games. Ra.One is meant for kids, so I decided to have a PlayStation version of the game to increase its popularity

Revenue matters

Apart from just the bright factor, the creative factor and the marketing factor - I think the main thing is going to be that we are going to have another source of revenue very soon for our films. As a matter of fact, we will be able to break the barrier of only one or two percent of revenue of the international share and make it 10-15 per cent when partners like PlayStation come on board.

Ra.One is special

It's a film I did on the insistence of my kids. Both my kids love superheroes so I thought to make a super hero films. My entire team has worked really hard for Ra.One so it makes the film very special.

New level

It is high-time something like this happened... I feel Indian films can take this step to get video games arranged for their respective films. I am sure youngsters all around would be proud of this development.

On reaching masses

Promotion is important today to reach out to the audience. I am thankful to the media who are also working hard like me around the clock wherever I go they are coming and through them, I can promote my film and reach out to masses.

Crazy promotion

The makers of Damadamm have come with a funny promotional policy. The film is releasing on Diwali and will clash with Ra.One and Tell Me Oh Khuda, with Ra.One being the prime competition. So the makers have launched TV slots where people are talking about how they will leave everything aside and watch this movie starring Himesh Reshammiya! Yeah, right!

New date

The release of Vidya Balan starrer Kahaani has been pushed to January. The film is about a pregnant woman looking for her baby's father (ala Kill Bill) and is directed by Sujoy Ghosh. Vidya believes the month of her birth is lucky for her

Newer pastures

Sajid Nadiadwala is going to shoot all his films in Korea now. He has collaborated with the Korean Tourism Board and already gone location scouting. Kick starring Salman and Sonakshi will be shot there. Previously, Gangster was the first Indian film to be shot in Korea. Beautiful country!

Singer in the making

Katrina Kaif is going to learn how to sing for Dhoom 3. She is already preparing for her role and has cancelled her family holiday for the same. She also has to decide her look because she has to surpass Aishwarya's glam quotient in Dhoom 2.

Great expectations: Katrina Kaif

Welcome back!

Some of our favourite stars who were missing from the small screen are all set to entertain us with their histrionics yet again. We take a look at their avatars in their comeback shows

Abhishek Rawat

Abhishek Rawat's portrayal as Shekhar from Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo won the actor appreciation from viewers. Then the actor went missing from the small screen when the show ended in February 2011. Only to return as Tanmay in Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya last week. The actor plays a college student in the show and the character looks promising. We hope to see a lot more of this talented actor in Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya.

Samir Soni

Samir, who has done a lot of movies, is still remembered for his stint in the controversial show Bigg Boss 4. The actor has now returned to fiction with Parichay on Colors where he plays Kunal, who has lost all zest in life due to constant failure in every aspect. While Samir is doing justice to the role of the brooding Kunal, he is best remembered for his role in the show Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi where he played the role of Purab Mehta.
