Phineas with Baljeet (right) in Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension |
India is one country that no
one can ignore. This is evident from the latest Disney film Phineas
and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension , which is based on the
popular TV series, Phineas and Ferb. In the film, the two
boys, Phineas and Ferb, finally discover that their pet
platypus, Perry, is a secret agent, who battles the forces of
evil almost everyday.
The boys team up with Perry on
an adventure through a parallel universe where they must
ultimately thwart the disastrous plans of an even bigger threat
than the dim-witted Dr. Doofenshmirtz: a parallel Doofenshmirtz,
who, unlike his counterpart, is a truly evil genius with no
goofy side or soft spot. In this adventure, the boys have a new
companion Baljeet. Baljeet (voice-over by Maulik Pancholy) is
Phineas’ and Ferb’s friend and neighbour. A shy and polite
boy of Indian descent, he often helps the boys with their ideas
and displays his knowledge of algebra and trivia. Baljeet, who
is in a band called the Baljeetles, also has a compulsive need
to get good grades. He has a dummy that looks identical to him
named "Little Jeet." During the group’s activities,
he is often paired with Buford. While Buford often bullies him
by taking his underpants, there is also a protective nature
between the two of them — they seem to have formed a like-hate
relationship. — TNS
