Personal touch to dining
While a man would want to sit across the table on a date, a woman would prefer a side-by-side seating. Likewise, a group of friends or a bunch of family members would always request the hotel or restaurant staff to join tables, saving them from playing pass-the-parcel on the table. Intimate restaurants are what work in such a situation. Before anyone gets down to any kind of decoding, we tell you the basic idea behind the name and concept.
An intimate restaurant is a place which has a close seating arrangement, a friendly staff and a casual ambience. A place where you can literally 'hang out' at the bar, strike a conversation with unknown faces, chill and relax. Cuddled up in one corner…well, this doesn't work here for there is no space for a special corner! Some restaurants in Chandigarh and Punjab are coming up on the 'intimate' concept as well. Says Karan Deep Singh Suri, CEO Bistro, Sector-7, who has done both the joints (Sector-35 & 7), under the intimate restaurant concept. The idea is plain and simple, as he shares, "Hospitality no longer means serving food and drinks, it involves an interaction with customers, sharing a joke or two with them. In one word - hospitality has become more personalised. A close seating arrangement in a restaurant brings in more life, wherein people can laugh and talk easily." The concept though pretty popular in cities like Mumbai and Down South is also gaining acceptance and popularity back home. "In the North, people expect the luxury of space, tucked in corners, but at Bistro we encourage them to mingle with each other. They can hang out at the bar, pick up a conversation with people and have a good time." A formal set up with tables aligned at an arm's length so that you can enjoy your privacy….not everyone wants it this way! Nods Vipul Dua, director Peddlers, who seconds the concept of intimate restaurant, which let's people be. "Hospitality industry is more into concepts and designs, and not just laying tables or serving guests," shares Vipul. "Couples generally preferred to sit alone, somewhere in the corner …but that is no longer the case," Vipul is quick to add how couples are okay sitting right in the middle of the crowd. "At the intimate restaurants, the whole energy is alive and kicking. One ends up making new friends and sharing lots of smiles." Utilisation of space…did someone mention that? "Indeed," nods Raju Chadha, partner with Bombay Chopsticks-10 another place working on the same concept. "There is a shortage of space in Chandigarh; in a concept like this space is best put to use. Other than this, of course the staff is friendly and can attend to customers individually, unlike other eating out places where customers sit at a distance from each other." So here is giving eating out a spin by pulling chairs and tables together, throwing in lot of smiles, a friendly informal ambience and loads of fun! Still wanting to sit in a corner…check out intimate restaurants, you might want to mingle with the unknown people! jasmine@tribunemail.com

Role reversal
Teaching is not a lost art, but the regard for it is a lost tradition.
— Jacques Barzun
There are certain things, which remain unchanged. No matter how many boundaries Sachin Tendulkar hits in his next game, teachers will always remain the building blocks for any society. From memories of having specific styles of speaking, walking, scolding and teaching, they are different. Each from the other. Yet, they are fondly spoken about at alumni meets, between the gossip sessions and copied with much enthusiasm. For this young brigade of teachers, it has been like taking the experience of benches to the blackboard. "There is always a sense of nostalgia when your teachers become colleagues," shares Bhaveent Bhatti. This 25-year-old is teaching graduate diploma in advertising and PR in Panjab University. "It's been two years since I have been teaching, still the idea of relating concepts and theories to what the youth connect with works best with teaching," she shares happy to be running around for her students. Someone once said that the best teachers teach from the heart not from the book. Keeping this thought alive is Prableen Singh. A 26-year-old teacher in the British School, she is more than happy teaching young children and leaves no opportunity to learn from her students. "It' has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life," she shares. A rifle shooter by heart, taking up the profession of teaching was more of a choice for her. "It's really a great feeling when you give your students 100 per cent and you get 200 per cent in return," she shares. For the other few, it's about gaining the sense of satisfaction gained out of watching students succeed. Sakshi Kaushik, an English teacher is Chitkara College is one of those. "While growing up, I always thought it was a glamorous profession, it's only when you get into the field do you tend to realise what being a teacher really is," she says. A tad-bit sad about the decreasing level of respect, she is aware she will never be able to create the same equation with her students as she had. "Students today want liberal teachers, it's not something that's possible," she adds. There are a few others, who have quit a fat check to ensure students are taught. Mandeep Dhir is one such 28-year-old who has been giving coaching lessons since the past one year. Comparisons do tend to seep in. "We were more keen on always studying as a whole. Students these days are more focused on only learning exam-based syllabus," he says. Preparing well for the class before entering it is one thing Mandeep has leant over a period of time. "You never know when students corner you," he laughs. Teaching mathematics to students of MBA, MCA, BCA and BBA sure is a tough call. "It's all about creating a balance between knowing and teaching well, but yes, teaching is something that keeps you connected with the subject," he says. So, you remember the teacher who pulled you up when you bunked your maths class? Go wish him Happy Teachers Day. vasudha@tribunemail.com

Food for thought
As we celebrate Nutrition Week, how about giving a thought if you are eating right? 'Khaana' is no more a priority in today's high tech lives that we lead, but, at the same time, we cannot deny the significant role it plays!
Here's some food for thought…if it clicks with you, make it a part of your life! Start early If you fall in the league of parents who perennially complain that their kids don't eat, Madhu Sharma, senior dietician, Department of Paediatrics, PGI, lists some advice that works. "Firstly, one needs to make a schedule for kids. Do keep in mind their likes and dislikes, but make a wise decision when it comes to food choices," says Madhu. She insists that being a role model for kids works the best. She warns against mixing television with meals. "It's harmful in two ways -one, the kids either eat too little or too much. Two, TV runs commercials of the 'very' food that that you are trying to avoid," she says. Restrict the junk food to occasions only, she suggests. Weighty issues If you are trying to loose or maintain weight, add colour blue to your dining area. It acts as a natural appetite suppressant. So, serve up your dinner on blue plates and cover your table with a blue tablecloth. Studies find they discourage eating. Drinking two glasses of water before meal and eating a handful of nuts in its raw form is what Aditi A Mehrotra, diet consultant and nutrition and health educator suggests. "Go find a weight-loss buddy. Discuss your weight reduction news and views with someone sailing in the same boat as you are," says Aditi. If you don't have anyone around you (which is very unlikely), try online. On the other side If you are on the other side of the scale, first, figure out your eating pattern. Pick up a healthy balanced diet that provides your body with correct amount of protein, carbohydrates and vital nutrients. Ensure that there is no medical condition that is the cause. Weight has as much to do with physical health as mental. Aditi suggests, "Change your attitude. Get out of those high stress and high pressure lifestyle. Try meditation or yoga." Last, not the least, exercise and get lots of sleep! mona@tribunemail.com
Steering your way in fast food lane
Not all fast food are junk food. Go for fast food by all means but avoid junk. "Junk food are rich in energy with high sugar/fats/salts and low in nutrients in terms of protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals," says Dr Swapana Singla. Healthy fast foods are available all over. Eat out and still have great health. Dr Swapana hands out some healthy tips. Prefer… l Grilled sandwiches over burgers l Steamed momos over fried ones l Fruit shakes, lassi over ice creams and soft drinks l Popcorns: good nutritive value and very low in calories l Pastas, noodles over pizza l Dhokla over samosas To add to all this, eating from a neat and tidy place with open kitchen should be the priority…

Guns ‘n’ noses!
In a funny and quirky scene between Imran and Katrina, director Ali Abbas found something amiss. He decided to add a gun as a fun and interesting element to the scene but while shooting, Imran accidentally hit the gun on Katrina's nose and her nose started bleeding. Katrina took it sportingly and continued shooting after she took a quick break in order to regain herself. Imran learns to ride a scooter
Imran learned to ride a scooter only for Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, so it was a real balancing act for him as a first time scooter driver. Especially have Katrina beside him doing crazy things as her brief was to distract Imran while he rode! One tight slap
In a very important scene, Katrina had to slap Imran. Imran insisted that Katrina must genuinely slap him to make the scene look real. In the pursuit of the perfect take, Imran got slapped a dozen times and was left with a puffy red cheek. At the end of it all Katrina, as a sweet gesture, got him a box of chocolates as she felt responsible for it all. Guess that
must have helped to lessen the pain…

Teacher’s day out…
They can be strict, they can be hot, sometimes cute, and sometimes support like a rock - Bollywood has portrayed a teacher in varied forms through the years with films like Mera Naam Joker, Sir, Mohabbatein and Taare Zameen Par. Recently their portrayal has taken on a more realistic form thanks to recent movies like Stanley Ka Dabba and Aarakshan.
Jagriti (1954) Way back in 1954, Satyen Bose highlighted the importance of unorthodox teaching methods for better imparting of education. With actor Abhi Bhattacharya in the lead role, the movie shows how a teacher works towards making his pupils responsible citizens. Mera Naam Joker (1970) This Raj Kapoor classic brought a school boy's infatuation with his teacher to the big screen. Rishi Kapoor, as the adolescent Raju, was shown smitten by his teacher, Miss Mary, essayed by Simi Garewal. Even if this plot made for just a third of the movie, this aspect of its narrative remains etched in the mind till date. Sir (1993) - Naseeruddin Shah stars as an inspiring teacher who helps a stammering student (Pooja Bhatt) help overcome her problem, and even plays cupid between her and a male student, essayed by Atul Agnihotri. Rockford
(1999) The film, best remembered for its song Yaaron dosti, took a look at how a student in a boarding school becomes friends with his PT instructor, who teaches him a lot of things.
Mohabbatein (2000) Covering three generations of mindset, this Amitabh Bachchan-Shah Rukh Khan-starrer displayed the conflict in ideas and ideologies of two generations of teachers who have distinct styles of teaching. While Amitabh's character is shown as a strict teacher, Shah Rukh plays Raj Aryan Malhotra, who believes in teaching outside the classroom. Main Hoon Na (2004) The student-teacher angle is little in the backdrop of Main Hoon Na, but this film showed the glamorous side of teachers! With Sushmita Sen as the sensual chemistry teacher Chandni Chopra, clad in sexy blouses and avant-garde saris, the big screen saw love bloom between the teacher and her student, essayed by Shah Rukh Khan. Black (2005) This is an inspiring story of a blind and a deaf girl, deftly essayed by Rani Mukerji, and her relationship with her teacher, played by Amitabh Bachchan, who goes out of his way to bring light into the life of his challenged student. Iqbal (2006) A deaf and dumb cricket-obsessed boy, played by Shreyas Talpade, gets no chance to play for a team due to politics, but a former cricketer, portrayed by Naseeruddin Shah, agrees to coach him and help him fulfill his dream of playing for the Indian national cricket team. Taare Zameen Par
(2007) Another outstanding story of how a teacher (Aamir Khan) goes beyond his job of teaching, to recognise that one of his students, Ishaan (Darsheel Safary) is dyslexic. How innovatively and distinctly he helps the child overcome his disability forms the rest of this movie. 3 Idiots (2009) A light-hearted, fun film; 3 Idiots came with an underlying message that real education happens beyond the classroom and textbooks. The film also delved deep into the thought that one must only pursue what he or she is passionate about. Stanley Ka Dabba (2011) Amole Gupte's movie tells how a teacher, who is meant to protect his students, ends up attacking one of his students emotionally. And when he realises his folly, he walks out of the job. Aarakshan (2011) Corruption in education - that's what this hard-hitting Prakash Jha film hits at. Beneath the larger issue of quota system, Aarakshan takes a contemporary look at the ethics and morals of teachers. — IANS

Justin freaks out Taylor
Teen star Justin Bieber, who has taken over the reins of TV show Punk'd, made singer Taylor Swift his prank victim by tricking her into thinking she'd set fire to a boat and ruined a wedding. The Never Say Never hit-maker managed to convince the country singer she'd ruined a couple's big day in an episode of the prank show after inviting her to his house to write a track with him.
"Justin called Taylor Swift and asked if she would come over to his beach house and help him write a song for Selena Gomez. Taylor agreed and even asked him to open for her at her show that night in Los Angeles," said a source. While they were at his house, Bieber convinced Swift to set off some fireworks with him, one of which 'accidentally' landed on a boat which was hosting a wedding party, setting fire to it and meaning the guests - who were all actors - had to swim to shore. Swift was unaware of that fact it was all an elaborate stunt, leaving her distraught, until Bieber, 17, revealed she was on the show. "Taylor didn't start crying but was very freaked out and was like 'OMG I'm so sorry!' Justin was trying to downplay the situation, When he said she'd been punk'd she started laughing and said, 'How could you do this to me?' The pair made up, however, and Bieber later joined Swift at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where they performed his hit Baby together. — PTI

My husband has made incredible movies that have impacted the world and therefore I'm a part of that now.
I'm proud of it and it's ok." "We like to play a version of Scrabble called Take Two, where you don't use the board, just the pieces."
The actor admits that public attention can be problematic, but says she manages to deal with it. "Some days you can go straight to Starbucks without being bothered and some days you have to switch cars and it's something that becomes a part of your

You kind of figure out how to go with it or fight it. I am still a kid from Ohio, but this is part of my life now." —

stress buster
Sitting under a tree, eyes closed lotus posture. Wind blowing through your hair and a calm soothing aura seemed to be hanging in the atmosphere. We suddenly have this visual when someone talks of meditation, and yet that's not the way, and, it always is!
In today's fast track world, meditation has become a sure shot way of busting stress and it needn’t necessarily be counted as a spiritual practice alone. In our ever changing and evolving scenario, techniques of meditation have also undergone a change. We needn’t necessarily identify them with a traditional mind set, we need to create our own techniques, ways in which we can comfortably focus, concentrate and relax. Stress is a physical, mental and emotional factor that causes bodily or mental unrest and it also could be counted as a key factor in causing disease. Physical and mental stress is caused due to trauma, illness, injury, toxins. Emotional causes could also be a whole gamut of mind and body related factors, which are mostly psychologically induced. In a nutshell, stress is the force that impairs the stability and balance of bodily functions and this is what we term as stress. Meditation A technique that puts our mind body orientation into sync. Using meditation l The idea is to consciously relax your body and focus your thoughts on one thing for a sustained period. l Give your body time to relax and recuperate l Give time for stress hormones to clear up. There is nothing mystical about meditation so all you techno freaks needn't brush it away as a spiritual practice or hogwash, on the contrary it is something you can do quite easily by following a few steps. l Sit quietly and comfortably. l Close your eyes. l Start by relaxing the muscles of your feet and work upwards. l In your body ''Progressive Muscle Relaxation' technique can be used. l Focus your attention on your breathing. l Breathe in deeply and then let your breath out. l Count your breaths, this helps in avoiding distraction. Do this process for 20 minutes everyday. You can divide time into 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening. There are of course many ways of meditating. Another easy one would be… l Focus on an object Completely focus your attention on examining the object, the shape, the size, colour l Focus on sound The classic example is OM meaning the sound of the Universe. l Hearing Listening to meditative scripts and chanting is another way to feel good and happy. l Guided meditation This is personally my favorite technique, and I feel is the best way of busting stress. It is the easiest way of keeping your concentration and focus as you can have a voice to guide you through the visual imagery. It could be a forest or a beach. Just feel yourself relax in the scenario. l Music Some great pipe music, sounds of nature, a waterfall or a bird chirping on a tree. Just hearing these sounds connects us with nature and we begin to unfold from deep within. So just get down to it. Give yourself a meditative treat. Call it a retreat for the mind. It is a great idea because in our daily run about we just tend to forget our own selves. We need to snatch moments for ourselves which would de stress and rejuvenate our mind body and soul. Try meditating and sense your mind, body and spirit elevate and relax. (Singh is a Chandigarh based psychotherapist)

GET PHYSICAL
If you find your days packed with work deadlines, family commitments, friends, and, you often feel overwhelmed by all the exercise you are supposed to be doing, don’t worry! For many of us, finding the time to fit exercise into our busy schedule is not easy. But if you find it impossible to spare 30 minutes a day for a workout, don’t give up. You can achieve your daily quota by doing three shorter bursts of exercise lasting 10 minutes or more. The trick is to use whatever time you do have in a productive manner and to focus on working harder than usual, that is, higher intensity.
Here are some excellent options for those who are short on time but want to maintain their health. Sprinting The advantages of sprinting are not restricted to speed and stamina. If your time is tight, a quick run can help you tone up, boost your energy levels and provide you with an enthusiastic workout. The best thing about sprinting is that it does not take long to show results, reduces fat quickly and that gives you more incentive to do it regularly. You also have an option to do it either indoors on a treadmill and outdoors. Add intervals to keep it effective and easy. To begin with, run at a high speed for one minute, then speed walk for one minute. Repeat this cycle until your 10 minutes are up. Speed walking or power walking Walking is probably the world’s most popular form of exercise. It is free; it can be done almost anywhere at almost any time and by almost anyone. Walking gives you all the benefits of aerobic exercise - it lowers the resting heart rate, improves the body’s ability to consume oxygen during exertion, reduces blood pressure, increases the efficiency of the heart and lungs, helps burn excess calories, tones and shapes the legs, reduces stress and mental fatigue. Speed or power walking involves walking as fast as you can. To do this take shorter, quicker steps. Arms are bent sharply at the elbows and should be swing in a brisk rhythm. To qualify as power walking as opposed to jogging or running, at least one foot must be in contact with the ground at all times. It burns approximately the same calories as running, yet it is much easier on the body. Skipping Maybe you only think of jumping rope as a childhood pass time, but this aerobic activity is a fun way to burn calories. Skipping is good for the heart, bones, flexibility and co-ordination. In addition, it is inexpensive: all you need is a skipping rope, a good pair of trainers and a safe space. Depending on the intensity of your workout, skipping will typically burn between 70 and 110 calories in a 10-minute session. To begin with, jump at a pace that is comfortable for you and slowly increase your pace over time. Jumping jacks This one exercise needs no introduction or instructions on how to perform it. Jumping jacks are one of the most known exercises. They are an excellent ways to get into shape. Jumping jacks work your shoulders, back, thighs and calves. They are also good for your heart. As you become more fit, perform jumping jacks faster and for a greater length of time. Climbing stairs Climbing up the stairs and then coming back down is an excellent cardio exercise. Stair climbing uses the muscles of the legs, in particular the quadriceps (front of the thighs) and the buttocks. It can be an intense activity both for the heart and leg muscles because you are carrying your body weight against gravity. Jogging on the spot It is a simple yet effective exercise and is great for weight loss. Jogging on the spot is good for improving blood circulation by raising your heart rate and for toning up leg and tummy muscles. It can either be done with your hands on your hips or by pumping your arms in time with your legs as you would if you were jogging outside. To make this simple movement more challenging just bring your knees up to your chest as you continue to jog on the spot. If you are feeling creative, make your own workout using some of the activities listed above. Form a circuit and do all the activities without a break in between. An example could be – one minute brisk walk or march in place, one minute jumping jacks, one minute light jog, one minute sprint, one minute power walk, one minute light jog and one minute climbing stairs. If you have prior knowledge of strength training you can add a strength training circuit too, involving lunges, squats, dead lift, chin-up’s, dips, leg curls, etc; which you can do 2-3 times a week. (As told to Poonam Bindra)

Say no to dieting
Experts have advised health freaks not to indulge in dieting to lose weight after piling on pounds. The Sinai Hospital program offers weight loss surgery patients expert advice and consultation from Melissa Majumdar – who consults patients on real life scenarios such as how to make food decisions while on vacation and after.
Taking certain foods out of one’s diet and following a super low calorie intake works for some time, but what ultimately leads to diet failure is sustainability. Majumdar said the body is very similar to a machine – the machine works as long as one puts fuel in it, the moment fuel stop pouring in, the machine breaks down.
Over a long period of underfeeding, or dieting, the hypothalamus down-regulates the metabolism to be more efficient and use fewer calories for energy. When the body goes without enough fuel during a diet, it gets nervous, thinks it is starving, and conserves fat – kind of like an animal in hibernation. The same thing happens when meals are skipped, or the body goes without fuel for longer than 4 hours.

Power- packed role
For all the glamour that Hindi serials may infuse in a mother’s role, the Punjabi mothers on screen like motherhood to be a no-frills affair. At least this is what Anita Shabdeesh, the SAS Nagar-based actress who plays the role of a stern mother in Punjabi soap Kach Diyaan Vangaan, believes.
She’s not too keen to see onscreen mothers flaunt their sexuality. It seems a bit phony. And it goes against the grain of our culture, she quips. “In many tele-serials it’s difficult to tell apart a mother and a daughter. Sometimes, the mother looks younger than her daughter,” she says. “For an actress, it’s more important to look convincing than to make a pretty picture. Character roles are not easy to handle. You need to understand the role very well. And you have to bring alive that character. If your identity shows through your role, you have probably not done your homework well,” she adds. There’s an unwritten rule in the film and television industry – once a mother, always a mother. It does not bother Anita. She’s awaiting the release of her two Punjabi films, in which she predictably plays the role of a mother. She does not like categorization when it comes to acting. Her own field extends to theatre, films, tele-serials, comedy shows. She has performed plays across India and even abroad. Her husband, who’s a poet and playwright, lends her a helping hand. “Before we got married, my husband was more into poetry. I would manage to find a dramatic element in his verse. It was hilarious,” she tells us, during her visit to Ludhiana. Perhaps, her ability to find ‘drama’ in the most poetic pieces motivated her husband to start writing plays. Incidentally, Anita’s surname ‘Shabdeesh’ is her husband’s first name. “There are too many Anitas in my field. So, I decided to suffix my name with my husband’s name,” she adds.

Talking about her album, Rinku shares, “I am comfortable with all genres of music, Bollywood, pop and folk. However, it is the light classical, vocal, especially ghazal, which is close to my heart. Melody is the soul of music and I don’t compromise on melody and meaningful lyrics,” she adds.
The music for the album has been composed by music director Varinder Bachan. As for Hans Raj Hans, the singer expressed the need of an academy for teaching all genres of music and preserving and promoting the rich musical heritage of the region.

Chatter box
Mohan-Kastur
Kastur (Asiya Kazi) is madly in love with Mohan (Harshad Chopda) in Dharampatni on Imagine TV and the love shows in her eyes. Kastur dreams about marrying Mohan and imagines his presence everywhere.
Mohan and Kastur look good together and their cute chemistry is evident in the promos of the show. Harshad's dashing looks and Asiya cute, bubbly character works well and totally sizzles. Preeto-Rajbeer
Preeto (Ankita Sharma) and Rajbeer ( Aditya Redij) is another jodi who disliked each other initially but are now coming closer. Preeto had tried to get Rajbeer and her sister Ishmeet together but Rajbeer had felt that she was trying to trap him. Rajbeer has now developed an attraction towards Preeto and the duo shares a good chemistry. This is another good looking jodi to watch out for. Chandragupta Maurya- Mrignayani Although Chandragupta (Ashish Sharma) and Mrignayani (Yashashri Masurkar) have just met in Chandragupta Maurya on Imagine TV, their jodi certainly looks promising. He is a tough and rugged prince while she is a delicate and beautiful princess. The attraction is subtle but we hope their chemistry is explored in the future episodes of the show. Ram-Priya
Ram (Ram Kapoor) and Priya (Sakshi Tanwar) from Bade Achche Lagte Hai on Sony are opposites in nature. They were pushed into a relationship and had even developed a dislike for each other. Now that they are coming closer, their chemistry is subtle. They are not sing rhapsodies of love but their chemistry is very real. They respect each other and their friendship is developing with their concern for each other is very obvious. This was seen during the time when Ram was admitted in the hospital and Priya visited him leaving her mehendi ceremony. There, she tried her best to make Ram laugh and it worked. Cheenu -Vidya Cheenu and Vidya (Vindhya Tiwari), from Maryaada Lekin Kab Takon Star Plus, share a cute and innocent chemistry. Cheenu was the one who understood her problems and gave her sympathetic ear when she needed someone. He was the one who stood by her during tough times. He also appreciates her cooking skills and makes her feel important. Vidya is enjoying his attention and their chemistry is gradually developing into something more. Khushi-Arnav
In the case of Khushi (Sanaya Irani) and Arnav (Barun Sobti) from Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, the attraction is more from Arnav's side and he wonders why can't get Khushi out of his mind. The bubbly girl full of optimism and the angry, introvert man brings out their sizzling chemistry. Their connection was seen for the first time when Arnav forces her to model and she rocked the sari look. It was a jolt of attraction for Arnav who couldn't stop looking at Khushi. His concern for her was seen during Teej where she had fainted and Arnav ran towards her to catch her before she hurt herself.
KD-Surveen
KD (Ronit Roy) and Surveen (Shweta Kawatra) are rival lawyers in Adaalat on Sony but they share an interesting relationship. They are always at loggerheads but put forward their points in an interesting manner. It is their arguments and interactions that make this courtroom drama even more
watchable.
All for TRPs
'Ghazal King' of India Jagjit Singh says that the singing based reality shows on TV these days are wasting talent rather than nurturing them. The 70-year-old singer, who has judged a few shows himself, says that other than providing temporary fame, these shows give no scope to the fresh talents to grow further. "Musical reality shows don't really nurture talent. They just provide fifteen minutes of fame and then it is downhill from there for the winners. It is just another commercial product for the channels," said. "If they really want to promote talent then they should further train the participants even when the shows are over. That way the raw talent can materialise into something useful," he added.
