BACK in the 1960s, she was the anglicised star of films like Siddharth and Mera Naam Joker. She later went to make a great telefilm on Raj Kapoor and a not-so-great one on Rajiv Gandhi. Her Rendezvous with Simi Garewal was a path-breaking couch show that featured celebrities ranging from filmstars to politicians and from sportsmen to industrialists, who poured their hearts out to her. Now she returns with another rendezvous with the rich and famous as anchor-host of India’s Most Desirable on Star World starting Sunday, where she will interview some of India’s most eligible people, including Ranbir Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Frieda Pinto, Deepika Padukone, Siddharth Mallaya, and more. "There is a great
freshness," says Simi. "Each show is thoroughly researched and
personalities are portrayed as close to life as possible." Indeed
it must go to Simi’s credit that she selects celebrities, who are high
achievers with high appeal. And that is what makes her talk shows the
talk of the town. — NF
