Leonardo Da Vinci’s revolutionary designs included devices like a hang-glider inspired by the wings of the bat, an underwater breathing device said to be a predecessor to scuba gear, a pair of skis with which one could walk on water, crossbows, battle tanks and an ornithopter which was a conceptual flying machine that inspired the modern-day helicopter. Yet, no proof exists that these devices were ever constructed. So no one knows whether these outrageous machines were meant to work or were just wild ideas of a genius. In Doing DaVinci on Wednesday at 7.30 P.M. on Discovery Science, a team of scientists, engineers and expert builders try to construct these unique inventions using only materials available in Da Vinci's own time.
