Auto drivers protest against challans
Rajpura, May 10 Protesters raised slogans against issuance of challans and accused the officials of acting on the behest of some influential bus operators. Authorities also compounded some of the vehicles. Swaran Singh, driver and owner of a van, alleged that their vehicles were challaned despite having necessary documents. Dharna was lifted when a local SAD leader promised to get the vehicles released. However, authorities, later, said vehicles would be released only after paying the fine. 1 held for selling LPG on black market
Kharar, May 10 He was arrested on Monday near Bansa Wala Chungi and 10 Indane gas cylinders, four empty cylinders, one HP cylinder of 9 kg and one Bharat gas cylinder of 9 kg were recovered from him. Bank staffer pays for molestation bid
Panchkula, May 10 The police, on the complaint of the girl, registered an FIR against Rohit Ritesh Gautam, team leader of HDFC Bank, under Section 294 of the IPC (obscene acts and songs) at the Sector 5 police station and arrested him. According to police sources, the girl, originally hailing from Amritsar and presently residing at a paying guest accommodation here, had seen an advertisement for the post of sales officer in a newspaper in April last. She came for interview to the Sector 11 branch of the bank, where Gautam interviewed her. In her complaint, she informed the police that as her documents were incomplete, the team leader assured her that he would complete the documents himself. She further informed the police since then, Gautam had started calling her up on her mobile phone regularly and used vulgar language as well. Many a time, he had asked her to meet him somewhere outside, but she tried to ignore this, she alleged. When things went out of control, she told everything to her paying guest house owner. Accompanied by the house owner, she called Gautam outside the bank. After some heated exchanges, she thrashed the accused besides calling the police. Om Prakash, SHO of the Sector 5 police station, said they registered an FIR on the complaint of the victim and arrested the accused. |

Mohali, May 10 A CIA team had arrested Harshit Gupta, a resident of Phase 11, and recovered new and old mobile sets, recharge coupons and a gold chain that had been snatched from Mataur. The police also arrested Satvir Sata, Ravi Kumar and Ajay Kumar and recovered a gold chain, a rickshaw and sanitary items. Man booked for abducting minor girl
Zirakpur, May 10 The complainant, Sunil Kumar, told the police that he was not at home when the accused allegedly took away his minor daughter with him on April 22. He alleged that the accused lured his daughter for marriage and took her away. The police said a case
has been registered and the accused would be rrested soon.
DJ owner booked
The Zirakpur police booked a Delhi-based DJ owner for playing loud music at a marriage palace on the Zirakpur-Kalka highway after 10 pm on Sunday. The accused have been identified as Riki Arora, a resident of Delhi. The investigating officer Gurbachan Singh stated that after receiving the complaint, the police team reached the spot and asked the DJ owner to stop the music. A case has been registered against them, the officer added. |

Chandigarh, May 10 The trials for both the events will be held on May 11 and 12 at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 19, at 4 pm. Players born on or after January 2, 1996, are eligible to participate for the Sub-Junior category. They have to report on May 11 at the venue with original birth certificates. While for junior nationals, players born on or after January 2, 1992, are eligible. They should report with original birth certificate on May 12 at the said venue. |

Aman contributed 11 runs to the total. For St Anne’s, Saksham and Mandeep snapped two wickets each for 14 and 20 runs, respectively. In reply, St Anne's team bowed to the pressure, as their six wickets were lost just because of indecisive running between the wickets. St Anne’s were all out on 68 in 17.3 overs. The team got off to a perfect start with opener Bhagminder Singh playing a sensible innings of 105 runs off 198 balls that contained 17 fours. But the middle order of Chandigarh collapsed and at one stage they were 198 for 7. But Sanjog Singh (53 off 72) and Rahul Kumar added 79 runs for the eighth wicket and took the total to respectable 317 for 8 in 95 overs. Harpreet Brar completed his five-wicket haul for 96 and emerged as the main wicket taker for Ropar. Ropar in reply were at 18 for 1 in seven overs at the close of play. Shubham Gill (132) and Randeep Singh (102) smashed tons to strengthen Mohali’s position against Ludhiana in the second match today.
