The Tribune remains No. 1 in the region
Chandigarh , May 8 The latest ABC net paid circulation figures for the period July-December 2010 establish The Tribune’s dominance in the region comprising the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and the Union Territory of Chandigarh put together at 3,31,219 copies, which is more than the circulation figures of Hindustan Times (2,26,168 copies) and The Times of India (2,27,362 copies). Overall, The Tribune’s circulation has grown by an impressive nine per cent in the period July-December 2010 as compared to the same period in 2009 and is now pegged at 3,36, 102. In Punjab, The Tribune remains way ahead of other publications with a circulation of 1,65,630 copies as compared to 60,883 copies of Hindustan Times and 26,570 copies of The Times of India. In Haryana (excluding the districts of Gurgaon and Faridabad), The Tribune’s circulation is pegged at 64,074 copies, again ahead of Hindustan Times (25,801 copies) and Times of India (38,691 copies). In Himachal, the ABC report puts The Tribune’s circulation at 42,822 copies, streets ahead of Hindustan Times (4,659 copies) and The Times of India (7,906 copies). The Indian Readership Survey (IRS) 2010 Q4 also establishes The Tribune’s dominance. The IRS report shows that The Tribune with a total readership of 6.21 lakh is among the top 10 English dailies in the country. It has continued to show a growth in readership, which has risen from 5.94 lakh during the previous round i.e. 2010 Q3. The IRS survey shows that The Tribune is also the most read English newspaper in the region comprising the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand and the Union Territory of Chandigarh put together. It is much ahead of both Hindustan Times and The Times of India. The Tribune’s readership in this region (excluding the NCR towns of Gurgaon and Faridabad) is an impressive 5.99 lakh in the five States and Union Territory of Chandigarh as compared to that of 3.45 lakh of Hindustan Times and 2.56 lakh of The Times of India. In Punjab, the IRS survey puts The Tribune readership at 3.02 lakh as compared to the Hindustan Times figure of 1.26 lakh and The Times of India count of 34,000. In Haryana (excluding the NCR towns of Faridadad and Gurgaon), the IRS pegs The Tribune readership at 1.52 lakh, which is much ahead of Hindustan Times (82,000) and The Times of India (97,000). The Tribune’s dominance remains unchallenged in Himachal Pradesh. The IRS declares The Tribune’s readership in the state at 45,000 as compared to that of Hindustan Times at 14,000 and The Times of India’s at 13,000. The Tribune retains its leadership in Chandigarh too with a readership of 93,000.
