Face it…you've an addiction…
You must've heard about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Well, if you have and if you can't get enough of Facebook, you definitely fall into the category. However, you are not the only one. Every third person is suffering from this. We love to tag them as Facebook addicts. Wake up time, the brand of toothpaste they use, clothes they wear to work, vivid description of the gateman, traffic jam, what the boss says, paneer for lunch, party tonight, getting sloshed…these junkies have to declare it all, just like Shah Rukh Khan declares his assets to the Income Tax department! You must've understood the point we bet! We plough through the walls of four such addicts-it's amazing to see their dedication to the cause…

Hungama Ho!
Weekends are always worth celebrating. However, this weekend is going to be a lot more fun. With Holi around the corner, everyone is gearing up to celebrate it with pomp and show. Lets check out what the city clubs and pubs are offering to Chandigarh residents to make this Holi a memorable one. Rain dance
“Holi celebrations are incomplete without water. Consequently, we are planning to organise a rain dance party at Richmond Gardens. However, only couples can be a part of this fun filled charade,” says MS Negi, Manager of Kava-26. However, it is going to be routine at night. “As the festival fever ends by the evening there is no point in continuing the fun. So, it’s going to be a simple dance party with lots of music and drink.” he says. Twin bash
“This time we have a twin bash… Holi and the ongoing World cup fever. There is going to be a DJ party with regular entry criteria. However the offers and special menu for the world cup will persist. Visitors can enjoy holi and world cup altogether,” says Narendra Kumar, Manager, The Lobby. Another day
For some Holi is just another day. “It is a one time festival and creates a lot of mess. Hence, it is going to be a regular affair this Holi. The lounge would offer a dance party, with regular menu,” says Manish Goyal, Managing Director of S-Lounge. |
A date with a ‘sorcerer’
His works were, without doubt, the showstopper at the recently held India Art Summit, New Delhi. His video projections on canvas sold like hot cakes at the gallery exhibit which also housed famed sculptor Anish Kapoor's works. The internationally acclaimed artist Ranbir Kaleka, however, doesn't wear a halo over his head. To the effusive response, he says, "Moving images are more engaging. Human eye is trained to follow objects that move." His imagery is as intriguing as it is profound. How he arrives at these images …the artist, in Chandigarh on the invitation of Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi for a lecture handled our queries. My works are no trickery I make sure the viewer understands them. Lying somewhere between a painting and video, it offers multiple experiences and allows the viewer to enter into the work. I too seek Only the trajectory of an artist is not the same as of a scientist. Unlike advancement of science, one cannot say that art today is better than the one that existed 5,000 years ago. Faces are important In the video projection The man with Cockerel, I have cast Ram Gopal Bajaj, who is a friend and for whom I waited three months for a three second shot. I can't just use any face. Cycle of life It pulsates in my work The Kettle and in others too. When an artist begins work, it's not a single thought but a complexity of ideas that dominate his mindscape. Cinematic language Who would know it better than 'us' Indians who grow up watching TV and cinema. Many of our commercials are abstract yet the common man understands them easily. It's precisely because of this that people at the summit were able to relate to my work. Video art It's not about aping the West. By that logic even painting in oils is imitative of Europe. Today, video cameras are easily available and an artist is tempted to explore. Real to unreal In between, lies art. My work is not surreal but triggered by reality and suffused with imagination. It's about believable, credible images. My alma mater As for studying in Government College of Art Chandigarh, well college is a complete experience, not just teachers or the building. My memories of the college days later came back in my Dhaba series. Erotica element Surely it exists in my works in many ways, but only in the arousal state. Actually, I am interested in the in-between grey space. Future projection Will take into account sculptures too. Today, the good old hierarchies of art that held a painter supreme hold no meaning. Now what matters is how ideas are expressed. Kaleka is busy expanding both the horizon of conceptual art and his favoured idiom that finds new life each time he revisits it. |
Chatter Box
Recent reports that Nausheen Ali Sardar, who is making a comeback on TV with Imagine's show Beend Banoonga Godhi Chadungaa, is planning to marry boyfriend Prashant soon are untrue, says the actress. However, the actress denies any plans of marriage. Nausheen when contacted says, “These stories about my marriage plans are just rumours.”
Iqbal and Binny high on life!
Actors Iqbal Khan and Binny Sharma shoot for a dance while high. "We're already high!!" said actors Iqbal Khan and Binny Sharma while shooting for the Zee TV's Holi special on the sets of Chhoti bahu. The Sanjog Se Bani Sangini leads were roped in to do a song and dance sequence in celebration of Holi with other artistes of the channel. To get into the spirit of the routine, the director asked that they drink a few glasses of bhang to lend authenticity to the act. Iqbal and Binny flatly refused claiming that they were already high on life! Moreover, they had to rush back to shoot for their own show. What is commendable is that Iqbal was just recovering from a bout of illness and yet was just as lively and emotive as always!! With a spirit like that, the man already has the ladies high on his charm and A rated good looks!! Celebrities are semi-Gods in a nation like ours where fans emulate and follow everything that they do both on and off screen. They may have some subtle and moderate fans who send sweet messages and lovey-dovey texts but there are a few who fall in the category of extremists, who go out of their way to get in touch with their favourite actors. We asked a few celebrities about their weirdest fan experiences.
Madhura Naik
It was on Facebook, where a female fan used to send me messages on a daily basis. I was prompt in replying to them till it got really hard for me to keep up. I got the shock of my life when one fine day when I got a suicidal email from her as her favourite show Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, in which I had featured too, was going off air. To avoid any ugly situation, I deleted her from my friend's list but this didn't deter her wee-bit as she added my friends on Facebook and started troubling them for my phone numbers.
Aashka Goradia
Well, I don't know if it can be termed as the weirdest experience but it definitely had me troubled and I can call it the nastiest so far. A guy hacked into my Facebook account and posted a lot of unmentionable things. I had no choice but lodge a complaint against him. He was caught in Haryana and is now in a juvenile remand home. When I asked him the reason he said he did it all for fun. I was aghast to know the ugly side of stardom that day.
Siddhesh Pai
Weirdest experiences occur when you have female fans (minors) expressing their obsession for you. I have got pictures of my female fans being mailed and couriered to me from abroad. They had my name written on their body with lipstick. It's really weird.
Ashita Dhawan
I got a letter from my husband's fan who threatened me against marrying Saillesh. She was crazy about him and hated me for marrying him. She had posted the letter on my producer Rajan Shahi's office address. It was really embarrassing but later we laughed it off.
Abhishek Awasthi
I went to a discotheque with my friends recently and where a girl who came up to me and hugged me tight. She had her boyfriend with her and the situation got a little awkward for me to handle. She told me that she is a huge fan and wanted to dance with me. I thanked her and politely asked her to continue dancing with her boyfriend but she kept dancing with me. I felt helpless and pitied her boyfriend. As a celebrity, at times certain situations tend to go out of control and you can't be rude to your fans as they look up to you.
Karan Kundra
Oh! I have had so many weird fan experiences. I have got fans coming down all the way from Canada just to meet me. And mind you, I am talking about people who have never travelled to India before. And yes, letters in blood too have been regular. A fan wrote me a letter in blood in 2009, when my show Kitani Mohabbat Hai was on-air. It didn't reach me but is safe with the channel (smiles).

Chakra:Vu - Call Of Love (Piya Re Redifined)
Genre: Drum & Bass/Fusion http://soundcloud.com/chakravu/call-of-love-piya-re-redifined This track is dedicated to Late Nusrat Fateh Ali khan from Chakra: Vu. It should not be mistaken as a remix because we have redone the whole music and the vocals of the track. The track is sung by Zorawat Wadali and can be categorised as a remake of the original track. Remake track always retains quiet a bit of the originality, whether it instrumentation or vocals. There are many factors that go on to make it a must listen to track. It has a strong drum and bass base. The foot tapping score can transform you to another place. The vocals are soothing and gel well with the instruments. Tune into the song and add it to your playlist. It might not be a perfect dance number, but it sure one long drive number. (As told to Jasmine Singh) |
No partying for Ishant
Whatever the case, either they are doing well or they aren't, cricketers invariably hog the limelight. So, when you are not a 'highest degree of dedicated cricket follower', you shift the radar on other aspects like…style. Apparently, we see more cricketers walk the ramp than models. We leave you with this thought and focus on the long-haired Ishant Sharma, ace bowler of Indian cricket team, his style quotient and how he maintains it. In the city for the inauguration of the country's biggest sports pavilion store launched by Reebok, Ishant walks in his stylish best, ripped jeans and Reebok tee. Check out more… Style to me Style to me is being comfortable in whatever I wear. Importantly, to me it is about my long hair, which I love to sport in my own style. I am comfortable in A good pair of jeans and tee. I am not a brand-conscious person; I should like what I wear. Reebok means comfort In India, this is a successful brand. Now that they entered in luggage and gym equipment says how much people across all age groups like the brand. I would love to be in Shorts 24x7 Wear it like Beckham I don't want to do anything with my hair. I like the way they are long and healthy. I don't like to wear any bandana or style it in any way. I am not in favour of any kind of experimentation. Chill-out zone Old songs by Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar work as the best stress buster for me. No time for movies I haven't seen any movie off late. I am not a party person so I like to spend time with family and friends. |
Bollywood has a dry phase till June because of the World Cup and fourth season of the IPL. Come June, Salman Khan will kick-start the releases with Ready. Here is how the other Khan films are set to release.
Ready is releasing on June 3 and the film is directed by Anees Bazmee.
The film may not be affected by the box office result of Thank You but Salman Khan is always a huge draw at the box office, especially after the success of Dabangg. The film is sure to get a grand opening. Hrithik Roshan's Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara will release on June 24 but it is likely to have a niche audience. Shahid Kapoor's Mausam is releasing in July but the next big release (post Ready) comes in August with Salman Khan's Bodyguard. Kareena Kapoor is his co-star in the film, which is the remake of a South-Indian film and is a typical Bollywood entertainer. Bodyguard is Salman's Eid offering to his fans and followers. If Bodyguard is a hit as expected, it will be his third consecutive Eid success after Wanted in 2009 and Dabangg in 2010. All hopes are pinned on Bodyguard. September is dry at the moment and we cannot count on John Abraham's Force. After Bodyguard, Short Term Shaadi starring Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor is a romantic-comedy that will release on October 7. However, after Salman Khan's Bodyguard, the next anticipated release is the biggest release of the year. Ra.One hits theatres on October 26. Expect SRK to pull out all the stops and promote and release the film in a grand way. November is low on potential hit value unless you count Desi Boyz starring John, Akshay, Deepika, and Chitrangda. After Ra.One, the box office battle will be between Ladies vs. Ricky Bahl and Saif Ali Khan's long-awaited Agent Vinod, which are releasing on December 9. Ladies vs Ricky Bahl would have not mattered had it not been for the stupendous success of Band Baaja Baaraat and tremendous acclaim for Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh. There are a lot of expectations of the film and people want to see how Ranveer will reinvent himself. — HRM |
Actress Jennifer Lawrence, who earned an Oscar nomination for Winter's Bone, has landed the lead role in sci-fi movie Hunger Games. The 20-year-old will play steely protagonist Katniss Everdeen in the film adaptation of the Suzanne Collins young adult novel. Gary Ross is directing the project, which is being produced by Nina Jacobson and her Color Force banner. "Jennifer's just an incredible actress. So powerful, vulnerable, beautiful, unforgiving and brave. I never though we'd find somebody this perfect for the role," the writer said. "Katniss requires a young actress with strength, depth, complexity, tenderness and power. There are very few people alive who can bring that to a role. Jen brings it in spades," Ross said. True Grit star Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin were among the other actresses being considered to lay Everdeen's young sister. — PTI |
Minissha Lamba's take on cricket Who are your two favourite teams? I will only cricket when India is playing. There is nobody else. Who is your favourite cricketer? There are expectations on Sachin Tendulkar, as he's the god of cricket. I love watching Dhoni playing as well. |

The 21-year-old Country sweetheart will join the cast to voice the love interest of Efron's character in the CGI-animated movie, which also stars Danny DeVito, Betty White, Ed Helms and Rob Riggle. The film follows Ted, voiced by Efron, who seeks out the Lorax, played by Danny, in a tale, which contains a message about the importance of preserving the environment.Taylor will voice Audrey, the girl of Ted's dreams, cementing her status as an actress after her appearance in Valentine's Day last year.Chris Renaud is directing the picture which is being made by studios Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment. — PTI |
Funnyman Steve Martin is not returning to the "lonely world" of stand-up comedy. The 65-year-old actor says he no longer has the stamina to keep up with what he calls the "young man's gig". The Father of the Bride star first found fame on the live comedy circuit in the 1970s and went on to land guest spots on top US shows Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson. Martin insists he has no desire to stage a comeback. — PTI |

Chef Holi to most of us is all about masti, noisy partying, "painting the town red, blue, pink and purple", fiery snacks and cool thandai. The ace organiser is one who plans ahead and stocks up on not only "guzzle" and gulaal but also a sufficient spread of snacks to appease the hunger pangs of the technicoloured gatecrashers. I suggest you do a witch's cauldron full of a truly heavenly thandaai and some divine dahi-bhallas laced with a tangy chutney. You don't need a mile long table laden with grub. Just a few goodies, well prepared but plenty, are usually enough for pals who fly by! Urad daal ke bhalle
