colours, writes Deepa Karmalkar
Stop
fretting over the mangled and tangled mane this Holi, for
help is at hand — Band Baaja Baaraat gal Anushka Sharma
is here with tips to protect that luscious mane.
Come Holi and
we will be out in the sun splashing each other with colours. Oh
for all that dancing, the gujhiya and thandai and
the sessions of masti! But once the celebrations are over —
the very thought of getting back home all tired and bone weary
and then heading for a vigorous shower does make us shudder,
doesn’t it?
Not to forget
the rough, knotted mess the hair is going to be in. But hey!
Stop fretting over the mangled and tangled mane for Anushka
Sharma comes up with tips to combat the harmful effects of toxic
chemicals, heavy metals, acids and powdered glass that formulate
Holi colours. The leggy lass advocates:
n
Oiling your hair thoroughly before jumping into the colour
play will be a good beginning.
n
Post a wash after Holi, massage your scalp and do a good champi
with coconut oil. This is the best treatment to regain the
shine in your hair.
n
Wear a broad hairband/scarf or tie a bandana around your head
to protect your hair from entangling or damaging due to
artificial colours.
n
If the hair is still dry and rough on the following day, then
hot oil massage, accompanied with hot towel treatment, is
advised to retain the lustre.
Hair expert Dr Rashmi Shetty
says, "Coconut oil achieves 90 per cent hair penetration
right through to the cortex thus forming a protective layer
around the hair forming protective layer around the hair, thus
preventing it from the damaging effects of colour, heat and
dirt." Also by virtue of being very light oil, coconut oil
can be removed with a single shampoo. So, this Holi go for a champi
and grab a colourful bandana and have a stress-free Holi.
