Face-off on Facebook
Jaspal Bhatti

I asked my niece, Chunmun, if she was interested in reading books. She said, "Yes, I am very much into reading." I said, "Which is your favorite book?" She said, "The Facebook."

It is true that most youngsters update or get their knowledge these days only from the Facebook. Such is the popularity of the Facebook that an Egyptian recently named his newly-born daughter as Facebook Jamal Ibrahim to commemorate the website’s role in the revolution.

You never know tomorrow somebody may christen his son as Tony Twitter or Google Singh Bhatia. In future, wedding cards may read like this: Tina Twitter, daughter of Tony Twitter, weds Bobby Blog, son of Sardar Google Singh Bhatia, at IT Park on such and such date. Those who cannot come physically to bless the couple may send their shaguns by credit cards or by quoting their Facebook reference photo.

Singers have already started churning songs about the Facebook. Lately, I was hearing Kamal Heer’s Punjabi song, "Rati teri photo dekhi Facebook te mein." Gone are the days when there were lyrics like Tasveer banata hoon, tasveer nahin banti. Who says you have to spend laborious hours to make your girlfriend’s sketch and then crib that it’s not coming up well, especially when your drawing is horrible. Just go on to the Facebook and copy paste your heart on the Facebook’s wall.
