Winner of a record 12 Michelin Stars, the Scot is the superstar among global chefs. Ramsay was recently on an Indian culinary journey with a film crew to sample authentic food. The result has been a stunning TV series that captures the sights, smells and flavours of Indian cuisine and also its mind-boggling versatility. The journey has also resulted in a book titled Gordon Ramsay’s Great Escape: 100 of My Favourite Indian Recipes. The book and TV series, aired on Channel-4 on Britain, have been a runaway success. Talks are on with for airing the series in India and most leading English channels are salivating over the prospect of airing the Indian food experience of the legendary Hell’s Kitchen chef, who today owns several hotels and restaurants around the world, including the luxury five-star Connaught Hotel in London.

King no more

The Shah Rukh Khan-hosted Zor Ka Jhatka seems to be facing a ‘total wipeout’ as far as TV ratings go. At 2.6 TRP points it is miles behind other superstar-anchored shows. In fact, it is right at the bottom of the pile. Madhuri Dixit’s Jhalak Dikkhla Jaa 4 is clocking a robust 5.6 points what must have given a jhatka to SRK’s ego is the fact that his show’s TRPs are even below Abhishek Bachchan-hosted National Bingo Night on Colors (5.1 points) sometimes back and Mithun Chakraborty’s Dance India Dance on Zee TV with a TRP of 4.8. It seems King Khan’s big charm is just not working on the small screen. — NF
