Last week, the cable subscribers were being telecasted the matches through the DTH service. “I switched on my television to have a look on the score of the match between Pakistan and Kenya, I got shocked by seeing the operator’s name on the top of the screen,” said Ramesh Kumar. Adding further, “Earlier, during my childhood, we were in Amritsar and used to watch PTV, especially stage comedy shows, but here in Chandigarh, it is a kind of shock for me,” said Ramesh. Notably, PTV is banned in India, but masses in the city enjoyed the live telecast of the match with Urdu and English commentary and also seen enjoying Pakistani advertisements during the break. “It was really shocking, I have heard from my grandparents about PTV and how it can be telecasted in our city so openly,” said Anil Bhandari, a student of Panjab University. “I am watching all matches of the world cup. After watching it on Bangla channel, through DTH service and now on PTV, I am wondering on which channel I will watch the match tomorrow,” stated Sweety, a resident of Sector 22. The current tussle between the cable operators and broadcasters is struggling to come up with a solution due to which the viewers in the city are enjoying daily telecast of the world cup matches through different broadcasters. |
