IN nine editions of World Cup Cricket championship, the host of first three editions England — despite ending runners-up thrice — have not been able to become the champions so far. In comparison, all other five runners-up teams — Australia, West Indies, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India — have succeeded to become winners. Australia won the cup four times, while West Indies won twice and India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka held the cup once each. 

However, England reached the final thrice, but remained runners-up only. Australia became runners-up twice while West Indies, Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka became runners-up once. The list of the world cup finalists is as under:
