WITH channels making all out efforts to grab eyeballs, even the staid BBC has got into the act. The BBC Entertainment Channel has been completely overhauled with new programming and a viewer-focussed approach. One of the new shows, Colin & Justin’s Home Heist from Monday to Friday at 10 a.m. (with repeats at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.) is a treat to watch. The rib-tickling show revolves around show hosts Colin and Justin descend on unsuspecting homeowners and take them ‘hostage’ for a miraculous makeover of their tacky interiors. By the time they are finished with the boring kitchens, loathsome lounges and desperate dining rooms, these are transformed into breathtakingly designed living spaces in a budget spend making the show irreverent, entertaining and informative. Light of justice Tired
of seeing Rakhi Sawant trivialising serious issues like domestic
violence, child abuse and infidelity in Rakhi Ka Insaf? There’s
succour at hand. Star Plus is ushering in Season-3 of Aap Ki Kachehri
Kiran Ke Saath. Former top cop Dr Kiran Bedi will again solve cases
that otherwise would have gone to the consumer courts. As a curtain
raiser, the channel has announced the launch of Aap Ki Kachehri, Aap
Ke Dwaar, where people can get their issues resolved by Dr Bedi in
their own city. Instant justice, no doubt, but it has helped untangle
some very contentious issues. — NF
