Some have dubbed it macabre, others say it’s a weird show and yet many find it highly entertaining. 1000 Ways to Die on weekdays at 11 p.m. on Fox Crime is a show that re-enacts cases of uncanny deaths. The situations could range from tragic-comedy (standing up during a bank robbery when specifically told to hit the floor) or daft (driving off a cliff) or bizarre (a fish diving into the mouth of a woman who is fishing and choking her to death) or even idiotic (a carjacker gets his head stuck in car’s electric window and suffocates to death). Based on real life (death) stories, the show brings to life the bizarre side of death. Bollywood calling That MTV Splitsvilla every Friday at 7 p.m. is all about young people’s hunt for love is common knowledge. But what is not so well known is the fact that the reality show is known to bring to some contestants an altogether unexpected windfall. Some months ago some Bollywood producers came knocking on the door of Param Baidwan and Rahul Dwivedi, the Season-2 participants and they were offered roles — albeit small ones — in No One Killed Jessica. But the heartening news is that the ad world has opened up for the two and they are making a lucrative career in modelling. — NF Patience pays
After hosting reality Emotional Atyachaar, model-turned-host Pravesh Rana says he has realised that couples lack the patience required maintaining a relationship. "We are running out of patience and we are just not ready to cooperate or compromise in relationships, and that is what is taking a toll on everyone," says Pravesh. "The moment we get a better opportunity or find someone who is even five per cent better than our partner, we tend to run out of that relationship," he adds. Pravesh hosted the second season of Emotional Atyachaar, which saw many relationships ending on a bitter note after contestants carried out ‘loyalty tests’ on their partners. He has now taken up the task of helping couples work on their strained relationships in his new reality show Love Lock Up on UTV Bindass. The 26-year-old, who maintains that he is single, feels that being in a relationship has now become a fashion trend for the youth. "You shouldn’t be in a relationship just for the heck of it. If you really love a person, only then be in a relationship. It seems to have become a fashion trend, which is not the way it should be," he adds. "You never know you might not be serious in a relationship but the other person might be serious to some other extent only. If you don’t want to be 100 per cent committed, don’t be in a relationship," he says further. After watching many relationships break in Emotional Atyachaar, Pravesh feels it is very important for couples to understand what they mean to each other. "Before getting into a relationship or while being in a relationship, always try and understand what you mean to the other person. It might be a normal relationship for you, but you never know that you might be meaning the world to the other person and because of just one stupid mistake, that person can be shattered," he adds. Rana has had a successful career in modelling after winning the Mr India title in 2008. However, he came to the limelight after his stint in Bigg Boss 3. His mimicry on the show, too, made him popular among the audiences. Rana had been flooded with hosting offers after his Bigg Boss cameo. He had previously hosted dance reality show Chak Dhoom Dhoom and will be seen reprising his role in the second season of the show. So does he plan to act in daily soaps as well? "Reality shows and hosting is what I like to do on television. I don’t like the fiction happening on TV. I find all that crying and sobbing very irritating. Moreover, actors don’t have much to do on television today...it’s just the camera that works," he adds. — IANS
From spy to TV show host
Anna Chapman, the Russian woman, who became a media sensation last summer after being part of a major spy swap between Washington and Moscow, is hosting her own television show, according to the Interfax news agency. Secrets of the World with Anna Chapman airs every Friday on the private Russian channel Ren-TV. The show premiered a couple of days back. The show starring the 28-year-old redhead, who came to be known as Agent 90-60-90 and the Venus of the Volga, is about "mysterious modern phenomena," a Ren-TV spokesman was quoted as saying. Chapman had been detained in the US in June along with several other people on charges of spying for Russia. The spy swap followed shortly after in the Austrian capital, Vienna. Since returning to Russia, Chapman has become a media darling. She has posed scantily clad for a men’s magazine, has been hired by a bank as a consultant and has taken steps into the political arena, recently joining a youth organisation with ties to the Kremlin. Chapman has also been rumoured to be a possible candidate for Russia’s lower house of parliament, the State Duma. — DPA
