A police officer woke up in the middle of the night in cold sweat. His wife asked what was the matter with him. He replied, “It was a bad, horrific dream! In my dream, I saw I was posted to a small village named Takhta in Gorakhpur, UP. “Is the area infested with hardened criminals?” the wife asked. The officer said, “No, I heard there hadn’t been even a single petty crime like chain snatching in the past 15 years in that village.”

If there does exist a village in eastern UP by the name of Takhta, which is crime free, it needs to be investigated thoroughly. I read in the news that if there is a property dispute or any such thing in a village, the villagers go to the elders and differences are sorted out without bringing the police in picture. This indeed is a bad trend. One rotten egg spoils the whole pudding. If more and more villages slowly become crime free, without involving the police, the morale of the police force will come down.

Wife of a police inspector woke up after hearing some noises in the middle of the night. She shook awake her husband, “I think there are some thieves in the house.” The husband said, “Don’t worry if there are thieves in our house because I get a share of 50 per cent in their every loot.”
