Mythbusters examines the truth behind fables

WHEN you get cold feet do your feet really turn cold? Can using a mobile phone at a petrol station cause an explosion? Is it possible to beat a lie detector? Can plugging your finger in the barrel of a gun make it backfire? Myths have been a part of our life. But are they true or are they a result of someone’s wild imagination; Discovery Channel series Mythbusters every Thursday at 10 P.M.. tries to uncover the truth behind popular myths and legends by mixing scientific method with curiosity and ingenuity. Called "the best science show on television," the Emmy-nominated series is hosted by a team of science geeks, led by Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage and co-hosted by Belleci, Kari Byron and Grant Imahara.

Another starry brew

The eloquent and charismatic Karan Johar is all set to host the Season 3 of Koffee with Karan on Star World once again sometimes in the later half of November. One of the most successful star talk shows across channels, it has all the Bollywood masala — drama, emotions, glamour and a tad bit controversy. And Karan Johar has no dearth of guests. After all, who can say no to one of the most successful filmmakers, be it Kajol or Shah Rukh, Amitabh or Aishwariya, Kareena, Rani or Saif. Like Karan, most of his star guests are articulate, gifted and forthright. There’s no beating about the bush even when he asks those intimate questions with that impish glint in his eyes. — NF
