Ulta Pulta
Matter of honour
Jaspal Bhatti

THE Philippines has passed a Bill that would send`A0people to jail, who sing the country’s national anthem out of tune. Actually, anybody bringing disrepute to the country should be punished accordingly. When somebody suggested this to Suresh Kalmadi, chairman of the CWG Organising Committee, he replied, "Yes, the mediapersons responsible for maligning our reputation internationally should be sent to jail. Look, how our Indian athletes won silver and gold medals on the first day of the Games itself."

"Kalmadi sahib, do you mean to say that the athletes won the medals because of your organising skills?" the fellow asked. Kalmadi said, "People, who saw the grand opening ceremony, were dazzled. It is, perhaps, the best I have ever seen." The fellow submitted, "Sir, if you spend 100 times more than what is required, it is bound to be extraordinary."

Let’s leave the CWG till the Games are over and the matter is handed over to an inquiry commission. There are hundreds of scandals happening every year with con men usurping public funds and bringing shame to the nation. Some, who are responsible for the scams, are put behind bars. But they, too, know that after serving their terms, they will be declared the most respectable persons. You never know, someday you may need to sing the Nation Anthem in their honour when they are declared among the top 10 entrepreneurs of India.
