SOME astrologers in Chandigarh have commented on the troubles being faced by organisers of the Commonwealth Games. They blame the organisers for holding the Games during the shradh period. Do the astrologers think that the Games and people associated with them would have fared better if the organising committee had heeded the astrologers’ advice and postponed the Games? Maybe, in that case their corruption and black deeds would have remained under wraps. I think this period was quite auspicious for honest Indians because they got to know what was happening with their money. I asked a person why was he so corrupt. He said, "My bad time of being honest will start next year." One thing is clear. There are going to be a number of inquiries once the Games are over. The culprits, who may go scot free, will be all praise for the shradh period during which the lucky-for-them Games started. If we start doing
everything by consulting astrologers, then every event should be
flagged off after astrological consultations. You never know whether,
after the firing of the starting pistol shot for a race, our Indian
athlete will run or not. "What happened?" the coach may ask
later. The athlete’s reply, "Sir, there were still 16 seconds
left before my lucky time started."
