IT is the time-tested good-triumphs-over-evil theme. The Charmed on Tuesdays at 6 P.M. on AXN India holds immense appeal because of the performances of its three beautiful protagonists. The story revolves around three sisters, Prue, Piper and Phoebe Halliwell, who reunite in their ancestral home. When the youngest sister, Phoebe, ventures into the locked attic, she recites a passage from an ancient book, which transforms them into The Charmed Ones — the most powerful witches ever to exist. Now they must vanquish evil and save innocent lives while living normally. The sisters soon realise that life isn’t so easy when you’re charmed. Cracking the criminal mind Crime series Lie To
Me from Tuesday to Thursday at 10 P.M. on Star World has Dr Carl
Lightman (Tim Roth) and his sleuths cracking difficult cases that the
law enforcement agencies cannot solve. In fact, Dr Lightman also has
the uncanny ability of unravelling the minds of the toughest
criminals. A virtual human polygraph, he has the gift of reading ‘micro
expressions’ through body language, which helps him identify
criminals. The show is said to be based on a real-life American
fspecialist, who could interpret even a twitch of the face and crack
some of the toughest crimes that stumped the best investigative
brains. — NF
