ShE is just two films old in Bollywood, and neither of her silver screen outings managed to get the cash registers ringing, but actress Sonam Kapoor says she is not going the "safe" way with her third film, rom-com I Hate Luv Storys.
Sonam Kapoor debuted in Bollywood with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s mega budget flop Saawariya and her second film Delhi 6, too, failed to make a mark at the box office. But the actress is of the opinion that no movie comes with a box-office guarantee and says that she did not take up a rom-com because she thought it a safe venture. "I don’t think any film is safe right now. I don’t think that in the world of films, anything that you do is safe. This is not how filmmaking operates. There are so many factors that come into play than just the genre or the banner or your role or the co-stars," the 25-year-old daughter of veteran actor Anil Kapoor said. The actress plays a die-hard romantic girl, who falls for the cynical Imran Khan, in the film. And Sonam is positive that the Karan Johar production, directed by Punit Malhotra, will be liked by all. "It is a nice and simple film told in a very simple way. The film has been made by a bunch of young people like Punit, Imran and myself and that shows. It is a good breezy film, and I am sure the audience will like it," said the actress. Despite her proclamation against safe ventures, the actress concedes that every time a film flops, it brings along heartache. "Whether a film does well eventually or not is something that affects the producer the most. However, for us actors too, it does hurt. Little bit chubhta toh hai because eventually you make films to show it to people. If that doesn’t happen, then there is a fair bit of heartache that comes in," said Sonam. No wonder then that the actress is not kind towards film critics, who she accuses of ripping apart a film, without giving a thought to the efforts that go behind its making. "You know, it is so disheartening when all it takes for a person is one write-up to pan a film. They don’t realise that there is so much that goes into the making of a film. No one wants to do any ‘chaalu kaam’ in the industry. Each one of us wants to come up with a good film and make it work," said the actor. Also starring Sameer
