EVER since he won the bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics, life has been quite rosy for boxer Vijender Singh. The Haryanavi hunk is now taking it to another level with plans to work in a movie on boxing, Patiala Express. He speaks about his plans to Vaibhav Sharma

Q: You have decided to step into movies. Will this mean boxing is set to take a backseat?

A: Not at all. I have always said boxing is my life. Everything came into my life because of boxing and so everything will remain secondary in comparison to it.

Q: But a movie will ultimately take up a lot of your time. So how will you balance the two?

A: There is no question about trying to balance boxing with anything else. Till the Commonwealth Games, I am not even thinking of anything else. My aim is to win for the country, and my love is, and always will be for the game.

Q: Do you feel the pressure of going into a field where not many from the sporting world have succeeded so far?

A: For a boxer, pressure in life is that one moment before you step into the ring. That is the most uncertain moment, after that all of it comes to you naturally. When we can cope with that, this, I believe is a lesser demon.

Q: You had always been reluctant to get into movies. What made you finally change your mind?

A: Again, I think, I will have to give the credit to boxing. The movie has boxing in its heart, and so do I. So I guess that was the common link that worked this time.

Q: There are rumours that Bipasha Basu might be cast opposite you.

A: Well, as you said, it is a rumour. I believe that the day something is decided, it will be formally announced. Till then, you can always come and enjoy a boxing match instead.
