IT is a teen drama based on the nineties mega hit Beverly Hills. Like its predecessor, this, too, is a runaway hit because of its young theme, which is to be in college and in love. 90210 on Sundays at 6 P.M. on Star World revolves around Harrison Wilson. The first season showed him getting a job as principal of West Beverly Hills High School. He, his wife Debbie, daughter Annie and adopted son Dixon move to glitzy Beverly Hills where they all settle after some initial adjustment problems. This sizzling new season sees the students returning after summer vacation and beginning their all-important junior year. However, for Annie, things do not look positive as she is involved in a hit-and-run incident. She takes to drinking, while half-brother Dixon has problems with his new girlfriend. But they bounce back soon enough and are in the midst of action once again. Watch the show for its teenage romances, heartbreaks, comedy, pathos and the undercurrents of the joy of being young and in and out of love.

Back to roots

Childhood memories can be sweet and bittersweet. American comedian Chris Rock seems to have plenty of the latter. Everybody Hates Chris on Tuesdays at 8 P.M. on Zee Café is loosely based on the childhood experiences of Chris Rock, who grows up to be a professional comedian. He is also the narrator of the show that follows him as he grows up in New York of the eighties. Chris’ parents admit him to a predominantly White school for a better education and more opportunities than they had as kids. The story begins with Chris at age 13 on the brink of teenage. All through childhood he had thought of how cool things would be once he grows up. But he soon learns that growing up isn’t fun at all. As the oldest of three kids, Chris is responsible for taking care of his brother and sister. His father works hard to provide for the family while mother works part time. Chris attends Corleone High School, which is in a predominantly Italian neighborhood. He is an obvious target for school toughs though he uses his charm and wit to stay clear of trouble. But not for long as trouble seems to follow him. It is these situations that provide plenty of laughs in this breezy comedy. — NF
