THE Hindu New Year i.e. Vikram Samvat 2067 commences on Chaitra Parvishtey 3, Tuesday, March 16, 2010. It would start at 2.31am on Monday night under poorva bhadrapad nakshatra in Sagittarius ascendant.

In astrological jargon, this samvat has been designated as Shobhan Samvatsar, which is said to be catalytic in boosting up crops, increase agro-production, multiplying the amenities of life, luxury etc. However, as per Narad Samhita, such samvat creates differences and conflicts among leaders, courts and judgments, besides bringing difficulties for the masses in terms of diseases, calamities, and political upheavals.

For the New Samvat, the debilitated Rahu is posited in the Sagittarius ascendant and moon in Aquarius, along with sun in Mercury and Venus. The Lord of Lagna, Jupitar, is in the third house. While Mars is in debilitated position placed in the 8th house.

Mars has been declared as king (ruler) and Mercury as mantri (Minister) of the new Samvat 206. The grouping of stars indicate rise in violence, fire, accidents, explosions, terrorist activities, war-like situations, communal tensions and war exercises in border areas. Mercury, being minister, will bring mixed results in different fields, while Jupiter, (an expansionary planet), is bound to boost up agriculture and religious activities in the country.

Jupiter also ensures increased production, resulting in decrease of prices of eatables, wheat, rice, sugar, pulses, etc. to some extent in the middle of the year.

Weak law and order situation will prevail in Maharashtra, Telangana and U.P. due to Rahu posited in Sagittarius ascendant and Mars being in the 8th house. Kashmir issue may become more global.
