Unison WHEN dreams are put to paper, they flow out as poetry. What the heart feels is best expressed in verse. Every life has its aspirations and moments. To live and relive every moment and cherish it as a fond memory is something that everyone is inclined to do once in a while. This walk down the memory lane brings back bitter-sweet emotions. Harinder Brar is a talented poet who has managed to put her feelings in words so beautifully that they transport you to a magical land. She has been having her poems and short stories published in Canada. The simplicity of her thoughts finds poetic vent in this varied mix of poems. The topics range from beauty of things around her to moments that everyone encounters in their life that leave an indelible mark. She expresses her innermost secrets with amazingly deft wordplay. In the poem A Wish, she contemplates being reborn. The bitter-sweet joys of life are discussed in In My Case. She dwells on the fact that it takes just a bit to push your day into a certain mould, a smile could brighten it up or a slight could ruin it. That’s exactly what life is—unpredictable and imperceptible. Someone Watches Me finds her in a retrospective mood. She wonders what she set out to achieve in life and how far has she gotten in her venture. It is rightfully noted that even when life is dull and gloomy, it is worth living and the "let-me-give-it-another-try" spirit reigns supreme. She has touched upon the subject of our incorrigible hope that helps us hope against all odds. It is this hope and living for the moment that makes life worth living. There are times when death snatches a dear one, in spite of the cruelty of the situation, we live on. We can never fill that void but it is the memories that we hold in our heart that pull us through the grief. She talks fondly of the memories of loved ones who have departed and how we get on with life holding on to memories. Life is all about change. When you embrace it with open arms, you realise its very essence. She feels that the feelings and sentiments, not the instances themselves, should hold importance. There is romance, hope
and dreams in abundance in these poems. They nudge you to enjoy life
and love it. There are similes that she uses again which only help in
driving home the point more effectively. The pictures accompanying the
poems are very fascinating as well. The author comes across as a
person who lives life to the fullest and takes in every moment of it
as a remembrance to be treasured.
