Twigs dry up and go with the wind Plants droop down and die But when it’s someone near and dear The heart really wants to cry Mothers and grandmothers give lots of love And the moments with them are moments of bliss Everyone’s there around me But it’s my great grandmother whom I miss Your failing memory never told you who I was But you hugged me still And without those frail hands hugging me tight It feels as if life has come to a standstill Your cot lies expectantly Hoping someday with you it’ll unite But its emptiness haunts me I miss you day and night We never know the importance of people When they are near and well And when they leave us and go to God We feel as if life has become a hell Tears make us mad, the heart becomes sad And we come to know their importance in our lives And how my heart yearns to see That image of yours through these eyes Mothers and grandmothers are there around To give me a hug or a kiss Everyone’s there around me But it’s you my great grandmother whom I miss.
