LOVE is one of the wonderful feelings created by God in human beings. While each one of us wants to experience this vibrant feeling, the nature of love can vary from person to person—it may be person’s love for family, friends, career, sports, music, etc.

This book is about love and life in general. The story is based on the real canvas close to everyone and yet so far in many ways, and really, "that hardly happens to someone!"

The story revolves around the main character Rajiv, whose journey starts from a small village and passes through all the ups and downs of life. Though he works hard for achieving his goals, luck does not seem to support him. He rises after every fall, but for each step that he ascends, he descends two steps in life.

The author has described well how Rajiv handles the difficulties during his childhood, how he meets his classmate, Priya, and how they become good friends and fall in love with each other, though unaware of the grim end to their relationship. All this happens due to rivalry between two groups in the village. Due to this rivalry, Priya’s father fixes her marriage with someone else, leaving Rajiv stunned and heartbroken.

As time goes by, Rajiv gets busy with his studies. He soon clears an SBI exam and gets selected as a probationary officer. He goes to Lucknow for a one-month training programme and meets Mohit there. They become very good friends in a short span of time. Later, Mohit visits Rajiv’s village and proposes to marry his sister, Ragini. Rajiv’s father approves the marriage proposal, not knowing that destiny has something else in store for them. After around two weeks, when Rajiv goes to meet Mohit in Ahmedabad, he comes to know that Mohit has been killed during riots.

Later, to overcome all his woes and to keep himself busy, Rajiv starts preparing for a management course and joins IIM, Ahmedabad. Here, he receives a call from Priya who requests him to meet her. On meeting, she tells Rajiv about her miseries of married life. This time, too, fate is not kind to Rajiv as he learns later that Priya has ended her life.

Beside all these mishappenings, there is something good in store for Rajiv. All his woes end when he meets his dream girl Shalini on a flight. After a few meetings, he comes to know that she is Mohit’s cousin. Later, Mohit’s mother asks Rajiv to marry Shalini, and he agrees to the proposal without a second thought, leaving his past behind.

On the whole, the novel seems like a Bollywood flick with a happy ending.
