INTERVIEW
Prachi’s funny act
Jasmine Singh chats up
Prachi Desai, who is back on the big screen with Life Partner
Comedy is
certainly the toughest genre of acting, feels actor Prachi
Desai, who is back with her second movie, Life Partner.
As for Prachi, who shot to fame with Zee TV’s Kasam Se,
comedy isn’t a cakewalk "I can’t be as good as Govinda,"
she says, with a puckish grin.
Prachi Desai and Tusshar Kapoor in Life Partner |
Has life
changed after the success of Rock On?
Completely. I
have become more organised in my routine. I get offers for
films, but I want to take it easy — one movie at a time. Apart
from the professional changes, I see a lot of change in my
attitude. I’m more patient to situations and don’t react
hastily.
Tell us
something about Life Partner?
I got the offer
before Rock On. It has been a wonderful experience
working with Govinda, Tusshar Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Genelia D’Souza.
Each one has a great comic timing. Life Partner is
romantic comedy that revolves around the struggles in marriage
and how the three protagonists deal with it. I play an educated
and confident girl who always stands up for herself.
From playing a
sophisticated married woman to a comic character. How has the
transition been?
In Rock On,
I play Sakshi who reconnects her husband to his lost passion. On
the other hand, Life Partner is a laugh riot, something I
have never done before. However, I enjoyed a lot. It didn’t
look easy initially because it takes time to develop a perfect
comic timing. But the director, Rumi Jaffery, ensured we were
comfortable on the sets and thus comedy came pretty naturally.
Has working in Life
Partner changed your perception of marriage?
I played a
married girl in my previous movie and in Kasamh Se as
well. I think I know everything about marriage — the before
and the after of it. So much so that I can now give counselling
on the same. Most importantly, I learnt that marriage calls for
lots of adjustments and compromises.
So, are you
ready for marriage?
I don’t see
myself getting married for the next 10 years. Let’s see how
things shape up. I take each moment as it comes and live life to
the fullest. As of now, it’s work and more work.
Do we see
you in any of the daily soaps again?
Not right now. I’m busy with
movies. Next in the pipeline is Once Upon a Time with
Emraan Hashmi, Ajay Devgan and Kangana Ranaut. Television and
movies are a different world altogether. Whereas success of
television depends on the daily TRPs. In movies, it is the first
week of the release of the film that decides the actor’s fate.
