A casualty of the computer age is our ability to spell correctly. Spell Bee — India Spells on Saturday at 8 pm on the National Geographic Channel underlines the importance of correct spellings. Based on the lines of Spelling Bee USA, the Indian version, too, is a search for the best speller among students of various schools across the country. The televised section of the contest starts with the four-zonal rounds or the semifinals. Twelve teams have been short listed from 11 cities across 2,000 schools. The winner gets a chance to witness the Spelling Bee USA in 2010 at Washington DC. Himalayan pull Mount Everest is also
called Chomo-Lungma (Mother Goddess). Till the first half of last
century it remained unconquered, resisting expeditions and claiming 22
lives in the process. But then came a lanky beekeeper from New Zealand
and a sturdy sherpa from eastern Nepal and on May 28, 1953,
Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay conquered the world’s highest summit
gaining immortality in the bargain. Hillary On Everest on
Thursday at 9 pm on Travel and Lifestyle Channel is a tribute to Hillary
and Tenzing, considered the greatest adventurers of the 20th century.
