Credit crunch
Jaspal Bhatti

A Chinese married tycoon, who had five mistresses, held a private beauty contest to choose one of them for keeping and lay off the rest as he was facing a financial crisis. I agree that it is indeed a hard time to afford even a wife, what to talk of mistresses! Looks like Chand Mohammad might have returned to his first wife for the same reason.

I heard my friend requesting his son not to go out with more than one girlfriend as long as the economic slowdown continues. The Mogul emperor Shah Jahan was lucky he was not born in the present times, otherwise he would have to run from one bank to another bank to raise funds to build Taj Mahal in his beloved’s memory. God knows his application might have been rejected either because of the credit crunch or for the lack of collateral security.

I asked my assistant to go and withdraw Rs 5,000 rupees from the bank, giving him a bearer’s cheque. He returned with a note saying ‘insufficient funds’. I rang up the bank to clarify who had no funds, the Bank or me? The manager got annoyed, "Sir, you have no right to make fun of us in these hard times." Many people become extra sensitive during the hard times while others become stingy.

An industrialist facing economic crunch told his son to take two steps at a time while climbing stairs so that his shoes would last longer. His MBA son, over eager to show results, took three steps at a time. In the evening the father was heard shouting at him, "Who told to take three steps at a time? You may have saved your shoes but you have got your trousers torn at the seams, you fool."
