Thanks to certain initiatives taken by the Haryana traffic police, the number of accidents on state roads came down last year as compared to 2007. According to AIG, traffic and highway, Rajpal Singh, 2008 saw 460 less accidents as compared to 2007.

INLD dissolves state unit of youth wing

The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has dissolved the state unit of its youth wing with immediate effect. Stating this here today, president of the state Yuva INLD Surinder Singh Dahiya said the decision had been taken by the high command to make the youth wing more effective and to give greater representation to the youth in the organisational set- up of the party.

Agencies have ‘failed to enforce’ seismic safe design code
Kurukshetra, January 5
Although the Bureau of Indian Standards has laid down national standards for construction in seismically vulnerable areas, these are not mandatory in nature. Regulatory agencies like municipal bodies and the development authorities have not been able to enforce the seismic safe design code in construction, mainly due to lack of capabilities, both in terms of availability of manpower and technical competence.

Thanks to efforts made by the Ahirwal Andolan, a voluntary organisation, Rao Gopal Dev, a hero of 1857,who had gone into obscurity has now secured the place he deserved.
