Shrek the Third features the latest adventures of the loveable ogre

WITH the recent turn of events shifting the focus on news, entertainment channels are finding it hard to retain viewer interest in soaps and serials. This perhaps explains why even quality programmes are hitting a low on the popularity charts. Take the case of Tujh Saang Preet Lagayi Sajna that is on (Monday to Thursday) at 10 pm on Star Plus. It does holds viewers’ interest but has been registering low TRPs because of the renewed interest in news and current affairs after the Mumbai terrorist strike. Tujh Saang `85 is the story of two childhood friends — one is a rich landlord, other a poor farmer. But misunderstanding and petty jealousies destroy the beautiful friendship and turns into enmity. A powerful theme marked by good performances and certainly worth a look.

The loveable ogre

In the first film the irascible Shrek meets Fiona and the two instantly fall in love. In the second movie they get to meet the families and it seems like a natural progression. But as it turns out it is not a natural progression for Shrek as he feels he can never make a good father. In his third outing Shrek finds himself courting a new adventure. In Shrek the Third on Thursday at 9 pm on HBO, the lovable ogre is faced with a curious problem. Fiona’s father, the frog king of Far Far Away chooses Shrek as the heir apparent—a role Shrek doesn’t relish. However, Shrek decides to find the legitimate heir apparent living in a distant kingdom with the help of his friends Puss in Boots and the Donkey. Once they find him they decide to train the reluctant new king-to-be in royal responsibilities while Fiona holds the court against the evil Prince Charming and his minions. With stars like Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz lending their voices to Shrek, Donkey and Fiona, Shrek the Third is a great Christmas gift for viewers. NF
