WILLIAM Dalrymple explores Delhi and one of most interesting mysteries of India —the ancient traditions of Indian Sufism. This is an all-familiar territory for the author whose best-selling travel books on India and the Middle East have already made him one of the leading writers of his generation. In his earlier quest in the same series he followed in the paths of barefoot holy men to find the spectacular source of River Ganga, which lies deep in the glaciers of the high Himalayas on the border of Tibet.
