A Mighty Heart on Tuesday at 9 pm on the History Channel reconstructs the story of the Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, who disappeared on January 23, 2002, while researching a story on shoe bomber Richard Reid in Karachi. Starring Angelina Jolie and Dan Futterman, it brings out is a vivid description of Daniel’s disappearance and the intensive investigation that followed. Daniel’s spirit of defiance even in the face of death led his wife Mariane Pearl to write about his disappearance, the effort to find him and his eventual murder. She titled the memoirs A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny Pearl. Six months pregnant when the ordeal began, she was carrying a son that Danny hoped to name Adam. She wrote the book to introduce Adam to the father he would never meet. A heart-stopping movie, which has been partly shot in Pune, A Mighty Heart, is a salute to Daniel’s bravery and courage.
