A celebrity on the modelling circuit, Mouli Ganguly is known name on television, too. Mouli became an instant hit as Shaina Sikand in Kaahin Kissi Roz, followed by a series of soaps and serials, including her current Aathvan Vachan on Sony Entertainment Television. Mouli has also done over half a dozen films in Hindi and Bengali. These include Jamai No 1, Ulanghan, Bhalobasaar Chor and Sudhu Ek Baar Bolo. Her new film It’s A Man’s World opposite Mohsin Akhtar has been written for her especially and she says she’s looking at some more scripts. Among modelling, TV and films, she says, "My preference is good roles. I want to prove that I can act."
Javed Akhtar is a stickler for the Urdu language. He can go to extremes to correct wrong usage of words or bad pronunciation. That’s what aspirants for the new season of Indian Idol found out recently. But recently he was taken aback with the diction and pronunciation of contestants from Lucknow. One contestant pronounced flower as fool. The lyricist told him to pronounce the word correctly as phool. The harried young man had to repeat it several times till he got his diction right. The next contestant wrongly pronounced fir (again) and Javed tutored him to say phir. He then explained the nuances of the language.
