Ulta Pulta
Good God!
Jaspal Bhatti

Pappu can or can’t dance is not a big issue but an angry statement by a Supreme Court Bench that even God can’t help India is indeed an issue to be pondered upon. The Bench expressed frustration over the government’s insincerity in implementing its order to get the bureaucrats evicted from their government houses where they were living in an unauthorised manner. The court observed that even God would be a silent spectator to happenings in India.

I beg to differ slightly here. God won’t be able to remain a silent spectator. As a matter of fact, He would be made party to our problems. If God opts to remain silent He would be dubbed as a Congress agent by the BJP. But if He did something the Congress would accuse him of favouring the BJP.

Many people ask me if I believe in God. I say, “Yes, if India is progressing it is because of some supernatural power, certainly not because of Soniaji or Manmohan Singh, supported by Shibu Soren.”

When people do not get justice in the court they find consolation in the fact that there will be an ultimate judgment in the God’s court. But He would think twice before setting up a court in India.

If God happens to come to India and order bureaucrats and politicians to vacate government houses, He will have to face embarrassing questions from the occupants, “Godji do you have a photo ID attested by a first class magistrate?” Or “Do you have the latest eviction orders from a competent authority against our latest stay orders?” God would then repent and rebuke his assistant, “Didn’t I tell you not to take panga with Indian politicians and bureaucrats?
