To grab a major share of the viewership pie, leading English movie channels are rolling out the best of Hollywood goodies. Leading the race are Star Movies and HBO who are spending megabucks in airing the latest blockbusters. While Star Movies has hits like Yours, Mine & Ours, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, HBO is showing box office thrillers like Spiderman-2, Rush Hour-2, King Kong and the Da Vinci Code. The ratings of another English movie channel Pix, too, have skyrocketed ever since it partnered Anand Amritraj and began localising its programming for the Indian viewers. Sajid Khan, armed with his particular brand of abrasive humour, is back on the small screen. Viewers can now watch him as a chat show host in Sajid’s Superstars on the new channel Colors. Sajid has already interviewed actors like Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan, Shahid Kapur, Ritesh Deshmukh, Anil Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi, for the 13-episode programme, which he says, will be not just a regular talkathon, but a reality show with a difference. The difference being the probing questions that Sajid will ask his celebrity guests and the equally witty answers he’ll get. Sample a question to Anil Kapoor about his rumoured gay relationship with Jackie Shroff in the eighties. Anil’s nonchalant reply, "Yeah, it still exists but no one reports about it anymore because the focus has shifted to Shahrukh Khan and Karan Johar!" — NF
