Terror visits Jaipur, 60 die in blasts
Jaipur, May 13
Terrorists struck for the first time in Jaipur triggering eight serial blasts in a span of 12 minutes tonight in crowded market areas and near a Hanuman temple in the walled city leaving at least 60 killed and 200 injured.

In a daylong political drama, the BJP today first gave notice to its alliance partner SAD by offering the resignations of its ministers in the government, only to step back after Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal ordered the suspension of two police officers, besides agreeing to take action against both deputy commissioner and SSP of Tarn Taran district to placate the party.

China quake toll crosses 12,000
Beijing, May 13
The toll from the quake to hit China in three decades crossed 12,000 today and may go up further with thousands remaining buried under rubble or missing and army and rescuers racing against time to reach remote towns and villages devastated by the disaster.

Shaurya Chakra for a soldier who was a militant
New Delhi, May 13
It seems to be a story that happens only in Bollywood. A former militant who reformed himself was inducted in the Indian Army. He will be conferred upon with Shaurya Chakra posthumously tomorrow. Rifleman Abdul Hamid Chara, born in 1975, was named after the famed Abdul Hamid Khan of 1965 Indo-Pak war, who earned his name for the battle of Asal Uttar and won the Param Vir Chakra.

Ditched, student stabs girlfriend to death in classroom
Pathankot, May 13
In a terrifying incident, a B.Ed. student of local SD College, stabbed a girl of his class to death in the broad daylight today. The boy later climbed on a loft of the third floor of the college building and threatened to jump. It took over three hours for the police, which had to seek assistance from the Army, to bring down the boy safely.

Taken down by HIV, Tarn Taran cops seek financial aid from govt
Chandigarh, May 13
A large number of Punjab police personnel in the border district of Tarn Taran have tested positive for HIV and hepatitis virus. In a routine medical check-up carried out recently by the government agencies, it was found that the virus had affected as many as 178 police personnel.
