Gladiator won them five Oscars and made director Ridley Scott and lead star Russell Crowe the most successful duo of Hollywood. It was said that whatever they touched would turn into gold. Hoping to reap in another bonanza, the two reunited for an adaptation of author Peter Mayle’s best-selling novel. A Good Year on April 7 at 6.40 pm on Star Movies revolves around young Max Skinner (Russell Crowe) who is taught to appreciate the finer things in life while wandering the French vineyard estate of his sophisticated uncle (Albert Finney). Fast forward 25 years and Max is now into the cutthroat world of London business. When he learns that his uncle has passed away and that he has been named the sole beneficiary of his estate, the keen businessman arranges a flight to France, hoping to secure a quick sale. But when Max arrives, he finds the vineyard in a crumbling state of disrepair. His troubles are further compounded by the stubbornness of the gruff winemaker of the estate. A taut movie that will keep you glued to your seat. New innings Years of marriage and a
two-year-old child have surprisingly not taken their toll on her visage
and she looks as ravishing as she did when she was a sought-after
Bollywood star. Now Sonali Bendre has switched screens and seems all set
for a new innings on television. As a judge of Sony Entertainment
Television’s reality show Mr and Miss TV, Sonali has joined the
growing list of actors who rekindle their stardom through television.
And like Raveena Tandon, she’s frank enough to admit that she is
testing the waters to gauge if this is the right medium for her. "I
think I might be ready for more offers from the small screen. And the
success of Mr and Miss TV has a lot to do with that. It has given
me the confidence that I will be able to handle future television roles.
I hope the viewers enjoyed the show as much as I enjoyed judging
it." — NF
