Robots… are they an ancient invention?

Robots are machines that perform predetermined tasks through automation. Typically robots can perform many different tasks all at once. It is predicted that soon this modern-day marvel will replace all human labour.

Robots have been around since time immemorial. The ancient world is littered with mythical references to automatic robotic machines. But is there any truth in the indications that the ancient world had robots?

The intriguing programme Ancient Discoveries — Robots on Thursday at 10 pm on History Channel examines the robotic inventions found in the mythical texts of such masters as Homer and compares them with machines known in the ancient world.

Did robots really exist in those times or were they a figment of the imagination of great authors. Find out in this fascinating programme.

It is being billed as the biggest reality entertainment musical show in which A R Rahman makes his debut. Mission Ustad every Friday at 9 pm on 9X features Javed Akhtar, Lara Dutta and singers Roop Kumar and Sunali Rathod, Kailash Kher and Mahalaxmi Iyer, Vasundhara Das and Mohit Chauhan, and Naresh Iyer and Shweta Pandit.

They all vie for the title of Ustad Jodi.

Watch them sing popular and especially composed songs based on a theme linked to the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals. If you like film music then this is a not-to-be-missed show.
