Remember Mallika of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Rhea of Astitiva — Ek Prem Kahani and the Charlie’s Angel of Saakshi? Can you recall the girl who played these diverse characters? It was Tisca Chopra who plays the mother of a dyslexic child in Taare Zameen Par. The Kasauli-born lass Tisca is a distant niece of author-columnist Khushwant Singh and ever since the release of the Aamir Khan movie, her career is zooming to dizzying heights. She has been virtually deluged with offers but is not committing to any as she wants to go through the scripts with a toothcomb. "After such a powerful role I don’t want to accept any offer that comes my way," says Tisca whose realistic performance has been roundly praised by Aamir Khan. If garnering praise from Aamir wasn’t enough, the talented Tisca has now been asked by none other than Naseeruddin Shah to take a few classes and teach new students at Subhash Ghai’s Whistling Woods International Acting School. Says Tisca, "Working in Taare Zameen Par has been the most splendid experience and I hope to get many projects like this soon." Delhi darshan
This ambitious serial is a fantasy tale about candy floss romance that seems a bit out of sync with contemporary world. Ek Thi Rajkumari Monday to Thursday at 10 P.M. on Zee is the story of a young princess Priyamvada who has never stepped out of her palace. After living a caged life for 18 years she decides to run away and taste freedom. But, not knowing the worldly ways and unable to take the right decisions lands her into a whirlpool of troubles.`A0 There’s the predictable love track between Arjun Singhaniya and Priya. The moral of the story is that you have to pay for what you do if you stray from the straight and narrow. The only USP of the show is that it has been shot extensively around Delhi. Viewers get to watch not only places like Chandni Chowk but also monuments like India Gate and Qutab Minar. The most romantic scene where the destined lovers meet each other has been shot at the Red Fort. So more than a romantic tale, it ends up showing pretty scenes of Delhi. Watch it if you like travelogues. — NF
