Costly affair

There are two kinds of buyers. One, who do not buy something until the sale is on. Then there are others who buy stuff when it’s so expensive that no commoner can even dream of buying it.

The other day I read that in an animal fair, a buffalo was priced at Rs 75,000. The buffalo yielded 16 to 17 litres of milk. Many milkmen stood around the buffalo, gazing at it covetously and possibly calculating the profit if an equal amount of water was added before the selling the milk.

Most filmstars have a passion for buying expensive branded watches, cars and cellphones. As far as the prized buffalo goes, rather than Kareena Kapoor, the Deol brothers might fall for it. Dara Singh and Dharamji, in all probability, might be the bidders for the high milk-yielding animal.

The Fire Fox bike company has come up with a bicycle which costs more than Rs 1 lakh. My friend Sukha’s son Jaskaran stamping his foot demanded, "Daddy, mainu ik lakh wala bicycle lya ke deo."

Sukha said, "What’s the use of wasting so much money on a simple bicycle? Why don’t you settle for a buffalo?" Jaskaran protested, "I would look like a fool riding a buffalo". My friend Sukha replied, "But you will look like a bigger fool milking a bicycle."
