Three teams of professionals and amateur players from Britain are planning to hold a cricket tournament at the base camp of Mt Everest. The craze for cricket is such that its promoters are always in the process of inventing new rules, methods and conditions to make it crazier.

One won’t be surprised if one day the players decide to play cricket in space or under water. Sunita Williams could be the coach for space cricket. The headache of distributing free passes will virtually vanish. No VIP will use his pulls and pressures to get tickets or free passes to see match at the Himalayas or under the deep sea.

The BCCI will then happily recognise Kapil Dev’s ICL and entrust him the responsibility to organise the tournament in space. "Kapil Bhaji ka space cricket mein jawaab nahi", Sharad Pawar would pump Kapil.

Already there has been so much evolution right from five dayers to 20 over matches and from day cricket to night cricket in floodlights. Some day, some Kerry Packer could start candlelight cricket. Ball, bat and wickets could be made out of some fluorescent material. A spectator could be heard asking, "Is Muralidharan not playing?" The other would say, "Why not, he is playing but is not visible in the dark."
