After
composing and singing for numerous Bollywood films, versatile singer Adnan Sami has now decided to take the microphone once again but this time as an anchor. He will be hosting a television show called Bol Baby Bol which will go on air later this month. “I am really enjoying my new role as an anchor. The concept revolves round lyrics and music and being a musician myself I found it really interesting,” he says. “Small screen has its own charm. Its reach is huge and I feel, it will give me a chance to interact with the audience and help me to reach every house,” he says. However, he says that he was very apprehensive initially. “I had a lot of apprehensions, as I thought it would be like any other reality show but after listening to the concept I felt satisfied.” Bol Baby Bol is a lyrics-based reality musical show where the participants just need to know the lyrics of the songs to be a winner. Thirty-six episodes of the show have been shot and it will be aired on Star One from October 26 this year. Adnan who hogged the limelight with his debut album, Kabhi to Nazar milao, says his hands are full with a number of projects. “I am composing music for a couple of films, the most recent is Mumbai Salsa. I am also composing some numbers for Vishal Bharadwaj and Sujoy’s next films,” he says. Adnan will also go back to his classical roots with a period film, where he will be working with some stalwarts of classical music and he is very excited about it. “I am doing a track with Pandit Jasraj. He will be singing one of my romantic fusion for Vikram Bhatt’s film 1920. Shubha Mudgal and Parveen Sultana will also feature in the album,” he says. Adnan is also working on an international album that will see him sharing space with the Jackson brothers. “I am working with Jermaine (Michael Jackson’s brother) on a music album. It will blend different music styles from pop, rap and techno to Indian and Arabian styles of music,” he says. However, Adnan who is considered to be one of the fastest pianist, says, with so many projects in hand he can’t get enough time for his first love piano. “I can’t get as much time for piano as I would love to,” he says. Adnan has not only won hearts with his songs but also with his acting skills in videos like Lift karade and Kabhi Nahi and now with his metamorphosis from being an overweight singer to a cool dude, it is not surprising that the producers are keen to cast him in their films. “I have been reading few scripts these days but nothing has excited me so far. I am a musician and would love to continue composing music. So, I am not very keen about acting,” he says. “However, if something interesting or earthshaking comes my way, I will give it a shot,” he adds. Adnan in the last couple of years has lost about 130 kgs of weight and no doubt there were lots of speculation about his inspiration. However, he says it to his parents who motivated him.
