Spirited affair
Jaspal Bhatti

With so many babas on various religious channels, I always used to wonder if there was any effect of these performing babas on the audience. But when I heard Pratibha Patil talking, "Dadiji ke shareer mein baba aye hai", I was convinced they do have an influence on a diverse audience varying from a vegetable hawker to the Presidential nominee. By the time this piece goes into print, Pratibha, with the adhyatmik ashirwad of these babas might already be ‘Rashtrapatni’. Although Bal Thackeray is no spiritual guru, he has already announced that the time has come for us to have a ‘Rashtrapatni’.

If Pratibha believes in spirits, there is nothing bad in it. By invoking spirits, our President will be able to judge if a particular Bill is to be sent back for reconsideration.

In fact we should have a tantrik as our Prime Minister as well. If so he could invoke President Bush’s spirit in any of our leaders. Then President Bush would say, "Tell me where to sign on the nuclear deal and remove the clause which you don’t like". This way the Prime Minister wouldnhave to travel to the other part of the world with his entourage and the whole of India will have a ‘pleasant experience’.
