Time was when he was a successful model and a struggling TV star. Look how fortunes change. Just a couple of years later, Anuj Sawhney is a much sought after guy not just on television but on the big screen as well. He is best remembered as the likable guy who beats two contenders to walk away with the heroine in Nayee Padosan. His next big film was Kalpana Lajmi’s Chingari with Sushmita Sen. Though the film was mired in controversy with a much-publicised spat between Lajmi and Sen, Anuj’s cameo of a postman was instantly noticed. And now his new film Life Main Kabhie Kabhie is already creating waves for its youth appeal. Graduating from Delhi’s prestigious SRCC, he went on to do his MBA from Vanderbilt University in the US. When he came back, he took up modelling, TV serials and music videos and is best remembered as the lead in Wadali Brother’s Tu mane ya na mane dildara, asaan te tainu rab manaya. "Television can now wait. My mind is preoccupied with films," says Anuj. Rocking show
It is one of the most successful series in recent times on American television. Now 30 Rock (Thursdays 9 pm on Star World), the Golden Globe Award-winning sitcom, is all set to woo Indian viewers. The show features Alec Baldwin as Jack Donaghy, the brash new network executive who has turned the show upside down with his meddling ways. Tina Fey plays Liz Lemon, the head writer of the demanding, comedy series. Although she’s always up to her ears with work, this single woman is happy with her life because she’s living the dream of every comedy writer in the Big Apple. That is until Donaghy, the brand new network executive, comes into the picture.`A0 Donaghy is cool, calm and egotistical. Despite being a newcomer to showbiz, he believes that he is well qualified to fix the show even though it’s not broken. And that starts a chain of hilarious events that will have you in splits from the word go. — NF
