Thin fad ‘disgusting’

British actress Kate Winslet has hit out at the ‘thin is in’ style in the American and British movie industries, and insists that the trend is both "disgusting" and "unbelievably disturbing." Mum-of-two Winslet said that the trend of thin being "image of perfection", was dangerous because it sent out the message that no other body-type would be able acceptable.

"It is unbelievably disturbing what’s going on at the moment. It’s so disturbing because young girls are impressionable from 11 up to 19 or 20 even," Daily Mail quoted her, as saying on BBC’s Sunday AM.

Winslet was especially concerned that her daughter Mia will also be influenced by stick-thin celebs.

"It’s only a matter of time before she becomes aware of it. I hope that in some small way I’m able to say ‘I’m a normal person, I’m doing all right, I’ve got a lovely husband and children and I didn’t lose weight to find those things, and those things are what should be important’," she said. — ANI
