Winter chill: Menace on your skin
Tribune News Service

Ludhiana, December 10
As the temperature dips, people begin bathing with hot water, and wearing warm clothes. But that is not enough, say experts. Negligence in taking care of oneself can result in bad skin.

Skin specialists say that the winter season is particularly harsh on the face. "Sitting for long hours in the sun is not good for the face, as it results in the face turning red. Many people are allergic to the sun and are not usually aware of it.”, says Dr Anupama Gupta of Kaya Skin Clinic.

According to Dr Mukti, bathing with hot water can also be dangerous as it takes away the moisture from the skin, leaving it dry and rough. Therefore, it is advisable to bathe with tepid water.

While the skin is still a little wet, it is suggested that coconut oil or olive oil be applied on the body.

Another practice people indulge in, to keep warm, is that they wear wollen garments under their clothes. This is also harmful as direct contact with woolens can cause abrasions on the surfaceof the skin.
