Rhyme Time
World of books

Books are gifted by God

These can even be about a cat or dog.

Books give us knowledge of everything

It can be math, science or any film

Books tell us our history

Or our martyr’s victory

Books tell us the teachings of our guru

Of Guru Nanak Dev or Lord Vishnu

Books are of many types.

These can be about jokes, novels or about spies

Good books are very rare

Books can be found everywhere

Books tell us how people sing.

They tell us about God and ways to win

Books are always alive

Because they are man’s life.

Sarbjot Kaur, X, M.G.N. Public School, Kapurthala

My teacher

I may be a little mischievous,

I may be a little nice

But it is true with your teachings

I have became wise.

Pranks are fine once in a while,

When they are played to bring a lovely smile.

Studying from you is full of fun

You guide me to follow the right turn.

If I thank you by writing a letter, I would be at a loss for words,

Yet you should be proud of us.

A word of praise from a teacher

costs nothing

But matters a lot to a child.

Whatever you taught me will stay with me throughout my life

And help me face the tough world outside.

Just like a soul never returns,

Teachers like you can never be forgotten.

Now finally, I’m at a loss of words

To explain and highlight the qualities of a teacher like you.
